Anyone else ride a motorcycle?

Just wondering if anyone else here rides a street motorcycle.

I ride my Kawasaki ZX-6R year round. Just thought I'd ask. :)

Shame, I'm sure you could pick up a nice 250cc if you live in the city. (Depends which city of course?)
  • American made ONLY!!

Foreign bikes is where its at, unfortunately.
  • I did ride a KX-85...grew outta that one way to quick :D
One day i might get back into riding....
  • Yamaha Virago 250cc.
Been meaning to buy a bit bigger one for years now.. But as this one has been so reliable all these years and i don't use it that much i've passed.

Was never into Yamaha's, poor quality street bike in my opinion.

Hah. Virago is quite nice imo. It's small and easy to use in all speeds.
But like with all bikes. It's all about what you get used to.

True, I rather start off with a low priced 250CC, rather then ending up in a body bag on any 600CC after a month. Kids that hunt for egos aren't fit for riding a motorcycle, it's not about who has the most horsepower...

On the side note, most 250CCs are a very nice ride.

Agreed.. Funny. I'm going with a friend to check out a bike today. He used to have a 125cc back in the day. Like 5 years ago. He used it for around a year or so. Now he's going to buy a bike.
I've told him many and again many times to get a 250cc for the start. Use it a year or so then buy a bigger one.
But no no no. It has to be a 900cc Ninja from the start.
I guess i need to start preparing for a funeral soon lolz.

I started on a ZX-6R around two years ago to be honest, first bike I EVER had, I never even road moto. Never crashed once on the street, and never dropped it. Bikes are what you make of them, I noticed at the start I will have a much greater chance of killing myself then I would of a 200cc. Basically, if he rides with his head and not an ego, he should be fine. Or maybe I'm just lucky...
I never liked the idea of starting small :P

Hehe. It's true that you can start off with a bigger one. But you really need to have a head between your shoulders. But so many people seem to belive in "I have the power. Why not use it" kind of shiz.
But as i know this guy quite well. I'm a bit worried. But hey. It's he's choice not mine.

I had a 125cc for 2 years. Then moved on to the 250cc since it was cheap. Looked kinda nice and does not use that much gas. So it was perfect for me at that time.
Last 2 years i have not used it that much. Maybe around 5000km in total. Before that it was around 20000 a year. So i'm still fine with the Virago for now. Maybe in a few years i'll get a 600/750cc.

250cc's are very cheep, most sell new for what $4,000 at the most? If your going to upgrade and start riding again you seem like your at the point where you could go into the supersports or just another high torque sport bike. My friend recently bought a Kawasaki Ninja 650R about a month back, I swear hes rode it everyday since and has loved it. It's a nice upgrade from any 250cc, but it depends on what company's you like and what not.
I've always been a Kawasaki guy, nice franchise and bunch of nice people seem to own them.

I'm not saying there a bad bike by any means, but there just not for me at all.
  • I'm more into custom type of bikes. Been looking for bikes like Suzuki Intruder and Honda Shadow. Good looking bikes. And i've heard good things about them both from many people.
And if my friend decides to buy that Ninja. Might even test it out for the fun of it. Evem though i don't like that kind of bikes that much.
But i'll look into it more in a year or 2. Would need some money too lolz.
And i'm spending most of my money on my rifle atm.

Really not a fan of cruisers. Yet I wish you the best of luck with that bike. :)

Everyone likes a different kind of bike. Can't really argue on that lolz. As long as people enjoy their bikes it's all good.

I'm just not drawn to them, if something catches your eye, you usually end up liking it or wanting to try it. Cruisers/choppers never really interested me at all.

Heh. I just allways liked em. For the looks/sounds etc. And they are nice to ride. Just my opinion tho lolz. I was never the guy that wanted a bike for the speed.

I never wanted a sport bike for speed. They look just really appealed to me, and I just liked the way you sit on them compared to other bikes (like a chopper). I don't like the feeling of having my arms pulled out from my body, I rather hug the bike.

Heh for me it's the complete opposite. Sport bikes destroy my back lolz.
  • I myself don't ride a motorcycle unless its on the back of one, but my hubby owns a 1600cc customized Harley Davidson Fatboy. Not too comfortable for long rides, seeing as how its an oldschool hardtail. After an hour or two, saddle-sores start to set in. 26353290t.gif

Ya those and the tuner cars.(Use to have quite a few car clubs round here)
  • Haha. Dayum Arch, that's a sweet ride! Wish I could get a Crotchrocket now (Stupid parents are like "not till your 18")

I got my old silver/red ZX-6R in high school (16). My mom was totally against it, but my dad eventually gave in, after getting some good AP test scores. Waiting till your 18 is worth it for any bike in my opinion.

I personally prefer being on the back of this bike rather than yours. No offense, but as uncomfortable as my husband's bike gets after an hour, its still looks more comfortable than spending half that time on the back of yours.
