Is there a fix for fullscreen mode in Windows 7

Hello, is there a fix for fullscreen mode for windows 7. I can't run it in fullscreen in windows 7, ive tried updating my graphics card drivers ( I have a geforce 220gt) and have made sure that the option in game is in fullscreen mode, but when it runs it goes to about 3/4 of the screen... I understand that their have been other posts about this but i just wanted to make sure if their might be a fix. When i had windows vista with the same pc it worked fine but ever since I made the switch to windows 7 it hasnt been going to fullscreen.
Please help me as I am dying to play this game again..
