In Game Chat

Would it be possible to put something in game to turn chat off during play?
I have asked for this multiple times in the past. Being able to turn off the chat in game would be such a help. Im sick of whispers/clan chat/ spammers filling a quarter of my screen and getting me killed
I know if i put in /d it clears my screen (having that work thru a macro would help some what) but still, i dont want to have to keep stopping playing to keep clearing my screen
