Their reason for no signatures:

They can't possibly moderate every single signature in the forum. Controlling what content is suitable and not suitable would prove difficult on a daily basis. This is what I understand from asking this question many times.

EDIT: Honestly I think they should provide a "Signature creator" that would allow people to post their signatures based on approval. Make your signature, submit it for approval by an Admin. Thus controlling the content of signatures and solving the problem. But that's just me.

Good mods should be able to mod posts.

As said by GreyCloak, when the reputation system comes into effect there is a possibility that we will be able to earn reputation to be able to unlock signature images.
