WOGL Pubs - What do you think?
http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=65518
Please do not turn this into a troll/flame thread. I want to hear opinions (Mature, valid and logical) about the new WOGL Pubs that have just been announced.
Personally, I think it's a great idea. May allow for an actual 100% legit game. Although I'd rather see the ACS to be required, not preferred. It's a step in the right direction for a better atmosphere in general. Pubs nowadays are not looked at positively at all. This may help a little.

Yeah I agree with you. I'm a positive thinker though. I'm hoping that people will have the decency to follow the rules or at least kick the people who aren't following them. -
Well I don't think they meant it to be competitive really. In my opinion, I think they meant it to be a place for players to go and enjoy a pub game with skilled players under a specific rule set and an Anti-cheat. Pubs are pubs, I agree. Call this an upper-level Pub. It's not meant to be serious, like a League game.

Oh well, pubs are bad.
Yes, we know. That is the general outlook towards a pub. WOGL is trying to change that up a little and thus the reason for this whole thing. Giving pubs and the game a better outlook.rune101rune wrote: »Well I guess I'll support this, but the anti-cheat should be mandatory.
I agree completely. -
I don't think a pub should require a acs because it's a pub, not a match or scrim, just here to pub it up with some rules here and there and not have to deal with the annoyance of br's etc... an ACS would just create more drama (pointing fingers at people who are running it and who arn't) if you honestly think someone is hacking just keep it to yourself and save replay/make bust movie, get the communities opinion and be done with it, no need for drama in a pub, it's enough as it is convincing BR's that im brazilian with 28 ping so i don't get kicked.
and also you don't need to pub with that person if you think they're hacking just make a new room or kick them if everyone in the room thinks it's true. -
What rules in a pub are you talking about? There are no rules for a CF pub. CSS seems to do quite well with an ACS during pubs via VAC. They don't seem to struggle with popularity, as does the COD series. Where are you getting that an ACS is horrible for a pub?
-
I'm talking about for a wogl pub requiring an acs, it's just a pub, no need for an acs, you play to have fun in a pub, if you think someone is hacking talk it over with the people in the room and kick them, it's not that hard, acs seems to cause more problems than it fixes especially when playing with people in this community ( mostly people with the maturity of a 12 year old), and also people like me deal with lag issues with the acs, it sometimes causes ping to spike and fps to drop, it isn't flawless.
-
I agree it's not flawless. I agree a pub should be relaxed. I think that's what they were going for here. But look at it from say a CS player who has never played CF before looking at the status of pub games here. Something needs to change. Everyone looks at pubs and says they are useless. They shouldn't be. As much as pubs are just pubs, it should be a place to enjoy a legit game without all the drama. WOGL may not have it right on the money yet, but at least they are trying. Like I said, it's a step in the right direction.

You see their acs fixes more problems than it causes, unlike wogl, the acs isn't the greatest, you can't compare those games to eachother because CF doesn't care about competitive players for them to worry about an ACS, they can sell game currency and keep making money with new players, unlike those games you listed before, they have to sell a product and it has to be a good product for their company/game to survive there isn't no game currency for them to make money off, they have to put out a good product, which requires a good ACS, which makes a good product making more people want to buy it, i'm not disagreeing with you about taking a good step foward, but the acs isn't the best and needs to be worked on, for instance during the wogl tournament, one of my team members asked if the oposing team member was running the acs and we did not get a response until a few weeks later, and it turns out he didn't and after he did he was banned for hacking it was too late though for a rematch, if WOGL wants to give off this good image about themselves i suggest they create an ACS that won't cause more problems than it fixes, and that will be the right direction for a better game.

not a fair comparison cause vac is the equivalent of xtrap, an anticheat incorporated into the game. WOGL scrimpspot is 3rd party anticheat, and not many pubs require you to run 3rd party anticheats. -

Good point. I see the reasoning there. I still stand by my comments that the "pub outlook" needs to change. How? I don't know. -
I agree with this, Fallen_Hero was in cVo he knows what he's talking about. He isn't randy.IL1keDrenKip wrote: »I also agree. If Fallen was in cVo, no way shape or form is he random.
Ok. I am asking you guys respectfully to drop the cVo thing. Call me a random if you'd like, I really do not care. It really has no value anymore. I don't want to argue or flame anyone about this. Seriously, can we just drop it please? I got your point. -

But you're not random, you was in cVo
-
When I made that statement, it was because he thought I was just some random person defending a cVo player. I was simply stating I was in cVo and that was why I was in that thread. I wasn't saying I was someone important just because I was in cVo. He misunderstood my post. It got out of hand. Wish it didn't. But it's over now. Please.
