What weapon should I get and why?

Style is rifle...although I'm sure I'm going to get a DSR-1 eventually. Yeah I know it will go away. This isn't my first time playing. But it is possible to maintain a 3 or slightly 3+ k/d without hacking.. But style is a rifle. I've played with every gun including ZP (I won't be making any ZP purchases so I'm looking for a GP gun) and I can't decide which to buy.

That doesn't help a lot but whatever. AK47, M4A1, K2, XM8 (you'll have to wait until SS4)... those are the standard pro weapons. For sniping, I'd highly recommend AWM since it's just as good and a lot cheaper than DSR-1. You should also get a Desert Eagle at some point.

Style type - Assault Rifle. Mainly a gun with decent recoil but good damage from a ranged distance but also good close-range. Pretty much a gun that's good for single-firing, maybe a little burst fire and a controlled automatic fire up close. I work mainly with assault rifles but I use snipers to - agreed to get the AWM, as well as the deagle. I can adapt to any gun, but what's listed above is what I prefer. Is that better (not trying to be offensive)? Thanks for the info.

Thank you, that was very helpful! I wasn't trying to be mean either. I would say go for the M4A1 or if you can handle waiting, the XM8. They both fit your requirements. Play Alaska EM to try both of them out.
Below is a nitty gritty comparison between the two.
XM8: Lower damage, smaller crosshair/slightly better accuracy, better ROF, quicker reload, lighter, full box damage.
M4A1: Lower recoil, better spray pattern, less distinct sound, better range performance.
If you're curious about any guns in particular, just let me know. I've played with almost all of them extensively. You might also want to look into the Tar-21. -
I also have a near 3.0 KDR. I used to use the XM1014, but I just bought the G36K. That gun is an absolute monster at any range. It beats the AK and M4 in my book. Firing in 3 round bursts yields pinpoint accuracy and I am getting called a hacker like crazy. I suggest you get it. Not to mention it has a scope, too, wich is great for head shots.

That's why I said, 3-round bursts. The bursts are incredibly fast and are still effective at long range if you're stationary or crouching. The scope is for more precise shots, like people behind boxes.
If there's one weakness to the G36K, is that it barely has any penetration. -
So the XM8 and the M4A1 would be better options over the G36K? Basing them on burst fire, single fire, and ranged. Thanks a bunch for all the input
In choosing between the XM8 and the M4A1, which one would you prefer? From my experience I've used the M4A1 as a standard weapon with burst firing and single fire. With the XM8 I've noticed the burst fire is a bit more effective in comparison to the M4A1, and the scope adds on. But I haven't used it a lot so I don't know

I actually hate the M4 A LOT. But that's just me. The XM8 is my kind of gun. I'd rather take an M60 over an M4 for any range. -

The G36K has full box penetration so I have no clue what you're talking about. Besides, when you're actually playing against people who know what they're doing, stationary shooting or crouching is not going to be an option as you will die instantly. The G36K is not efficient for long range.OhWellYaSee wrote: »What are the M4A1's disadvantages/cons?
The M4 is your standard jack-of-all-trades weapon. It doesn't really excel or do poorly in anything. It has easy to control bursts and decent damage. The spray pattern is also favorable. -
I was sort of hoping you'd point that out, lol. I'm not particularly sure, I just hate it's recoil and power. It's a flipping BB gun, or at least it feels like it.
The accuracy is good but I hate the recoil pattern. It annoys me so much, wich is why I stick the the G36. -

I actually agree with you. I struggle with the M4 spray pattern, it kind of bugs me. It took me a long time to adjust to it and I still don't like it. G36K has much better spray.

I think otherwise. I played against some silver bars and silver stars, I went like 20 and 3 on Mine. I don't have any facts or statistics regarding my opinion, but it just feels better.
If I try an M4, I get steamrolled. If I try an AK, I do good. If I try the G36, I dominate.
I do agree slightly on the G36K's long range capabilites, however, the scope is incredibly easy to score headshots with, and if you scope out and fire quick 3 round bursts, it is still effective to a degree. Tap firing is VERY easy, and it is better than bursting. I love it. -
Well, it's your opinion. Different people will do better with different guns and I probably should have mentioned the G36K as an option. I own all 3 and personally prefer the AK.
Just saw your edit. I will agree that if you manage to tap with the G36K, it owns. When you control the ROF of that gun you are pretty solid at long range. This gun is extremely similar to the AK47 in the vein that you have to control it in order for it to be effective. The AK has recoil, the G36K has insane ROF. The biggest drawback of the scope is that you have to walk or stand still for it to be accurate. -
Tbh, for those who are fans of the G36, but need more range, the TAR's a pretty good pickup for you all. The G36 is better up close and penetrates more, but the TAR is a hs machine if you know anything about tapping, and it can beat most other ARs at close spraying. Has some trouble in the midrange department, but on maps like Columbia, you can rock heads with it across the map, then go down and clear out the tunnels in a close range fight pretty easily.

I don't mean any offense, but anyways, that 3+ kdr is gone after a while unless you're hacking. Get the M4A1 or the M12, as they're best suited for Staff Sergeant ranks, maybe the M12 if you like SMGs.
Fixed? -
Get the AK or the K-2 overall the AK is for pro's who know how to handle recoil and can be best in game. or the K-2 because its a hs machine and the burst recoil is almost nothing
ALSO they are both allowed in tournys and not to expensive.
For sniping if you get used to DSR-1 it kicks ass -
XM8 & M4A1 will be the most balanced for more situations.
XM8 has 100% damage through boxes, more recoil, scope?
M4A1 has a better spray pattern, faster RoF?
Deagle as a secondary, if on budget, P228 is also fantastic.

No M12, it's banned from competitive gaming, it's a noobcannon (you will never be "pro").
