random frame rate lag spikes?

Does this happen to anybody else here? It happens to me every now and then, but now it seems to be happening more often. Usually for about 5 minutes I'll be playing fine with about 45-50 frames per second which is fine, but then randomly for about 30-60 seconds the frame rates will drop drastically to about 10 and sometimes even 5. I don't know what's causing this, it's not stuff popping up because I exit the game and checked, and its not the anti-virus. Does this happen to anyone else?

    Check your CPU temperature and make sure it isn't randomly heating up too much.
