Crash to desktop

in CrossFire Support
Every time I click start game, the HGWC game watcher thing starts up like normal (goes to step 7) ,then the game full screens to start (goes black fullscreen) and then it crashes to the desktop, it was working fine before the latest patch.

    that might help, it says xtrap error but this also applies to that, i just finished doing the steps and now workss, let me know whats up

    -Exit Antivirus
    -Uninstall Crossfire
    -Reinstall Crossfire
    -Run Crossfire (with antivirus still closed)

    If you're using BitDefender, follow these steps to exit it:
    1. Start your computer in Safe Mode:

    - restart the computer;
    - repeatedly press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins
    to load (you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu);
    - select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".
    - wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation
    message; click "Yes" to acknowledge.

    2. Click on Start from Windows and choose Run. Type "services.msc" (without quoutes) then click on Ok .
    3. In the list of services look after "BitDefender Virus Shield", right click on it and under "Startup type" choose "Manual" .
    4. Now, restart your computer in Normal Mode and try to open BitDefender. You will have the message that the BitDefender Services are not responding.
    5. In order to start the BitDefender services again, follow the second step, right click on "BitDefender Virus Shield" and choose "Start".

    Thanks a huge load, this should be added to the common problems. I've identified the problem thanks to yOTeL, it's a DirectX problem confirmed from a friend of mine. I borrowed the d3dx9_29.dll file from a friend of mine with a working install and deleted the old one and any dx related files in the crossfire install folder. The game started working.
