I might be able to help. First I'll give you some general things that you should try on every system no matter the operating system. For those interested these are things that if run regularly will really make a difference.
First things first Update your graphics card drivers. Check whether you have a ati or nvidia built in gpu and then get the most current drivers from the website that matches your card. You should update GPU drivers at least every couples months minimum.
Second and this is mainly for those w/ laptops, your graphics card may be overheating which will cause your fps to suffer, if this is something you get after extended play periods than this may be your issue.
Third download and run a program called ccleaner, then under the third tab go to your startup and disable startup links that are not related to your gpu, antivirus, spyware protection or printer. Now go to the top tab and run it and the second tab on the program. This will clean out all the temp junk that accumulates over the years as you use your system and trust me if you never run this there can be gigs of it.
Next Download and run these programs in this order, superantispyware, AVG free, Malwarebytes Antimalware. You will need to update each program before running it. Once you remove everything that these programs find reboot and the system will always run better.
Also make sure you're direct X version and sound drivers are up to date as well.
AFTER running all these steps post again w/ results and I can give you more in depth advice. -
Woah, buddy above me, calm down. If it was working fine yesterday then I doubt he/she needs to do all of that. He/she probably had something hogging resources in the background.
TO OP: Did you do ANYTHING else before starting the game?
Actually thats more of a list of things to get any computer up and running how it should. As a tech EVERY computer I work on ends up having some sort of resource hogging malware and on older systems this can make games unplayable. Obviously if you update drivers and the game is running smooth you don't have to run the rest but as a tech that list of things will generally get most all computers running at peak performance.
