Control save system for AZERTY-keyboards
I posted this thread in suggestions first, but i realize that it is more a technical issue, so i posted it here too.
Crossfire is a great game, and I really enjoy playing it.
There however is one thing that is totally annoying.
I live in belgium, and like most Europeans, i use a AZERTY-keyboard.
The controls for Crossfire are set for use with QWERTY-keyboards, and that is totally fine, because i can imagine that most of the players are using QWERTY.
However, playing with the default controls on the AZERTY-keyboard is totally impossible, because the layout of the letters is totally different. So we have to change our controls, to make the game playable.
Now, the big problem is that crossfire doesn't remember the set controls. Every time you change servers, or logout, the controls jump back to default, and you must set them all over again. I have to do it, my brother has to, and everyone in my clan has to do it. I imagine that every user with the AZERTY-keyboard has the same problem.
Ofcourse, this became a routine for me, and every time i open crossfire, i automatically go to the controlpannel to set my controls. But the few times i forget it and join a room without doing it, i end up with no proper movement abillities, as the controls are no longer adjustable in game (a long time ago they were, but i don't know what happened to that)
Now, the crazy thing is that crossfire actually remembers some of the controls, like "drop weapon", "defuse bomb" and "special attack" (which I set to C, as the right mouse button is not usable in crossfire, i don't know why) but not the most important controls like forward, backward, right, left, crough, walk and jump.
Looking at this facts, i must assume that it is in fact possible to let crossfire remember our controls, as it does for some of them.
Now i would like to ask the Z8-team very politely to take a look at it and fix it if they can.
Maybe make a poll in this thread to ask who else has the problem(and which keyboard they use).

What are you talking about ? I'm left handed i use arrow keys to move, right control to crouch, right shift to jump, num pad 0 to reload, num pad 1 to walk.. Mine stays like that for all servers even when i change.. Try clicking save once you're done choosing your controls.

i do hit save every time i set my control keys.
Do you have a AZERTY keyboard of QWERTY?
I am not the only one that is having this problem.
BTW: i am playing CF for more than a year now so i know where to find the save button (i am not stupid), and i always have had this problem. -
i know i can do that, but that would require me to do it every time i want to play crossfire, which is equally annoying.
I am looking for a permanent fix here. I know that it must be possible to let crossfire remember the controls one way or another (because he does it for some of them), and i hope that it wont be too hard to fix. I am not asking that is will be fixed within days, but that Z8 just takes a look at it when they have time.I have been setting my controls every time for over a year now, so i can do it a while longer XD -

I have the same problem. My settings are 'dutch' but still when I set my controls it says:
'HAUT' for 'up'
'BAS' for down
etc
As you can see not dutch but french. Of course that's not the problem, the problem is every time i log off or change servers it changes to:
haut
down
etc
Capitals -> normal: Apparently I have to reset them if i want to use these controls. ANNOYING! -
Controls
Well, got the same problem. I always need to fix my controls when I start the game. It's pretty annoying, and you loose a lot of time with it. And when you forgot you can't switch it in-game. Only on the UK servers you can, this is a good sollution if you forgot too change you'r controls. But it would be better if they would just save, so you wouldn't have too change you'r settings each time you logg on.

It seems to me that this is a small problem that is easy to fix. If it is possible to remember some of the controls, why not all of them? Changing my keyboard setting every time i want to play crossfire is even more inconvenient than just changing my controls when i log in.Why don't you just take a look at this, or talk to the developers about all the little things that need fixing.
Crossfire has hundreds of little errors and other things that just don't make any sense. And Jes, there is a fix for all off them somewhere on the forum. But searching them and wasting time with them is just somthing gamers are not happy to do. We just want to experience a game that runs properly, and it is your job to deliver that. Crossfire will only become truly great when Z8 games realizes that.
I don't want to be rude, but all this little fixes are just NOT IT. -

I got the same problem... im left hand so im using the numpad in every games. In crossfire i CANT *** set all the control of the numpad like KP+ and I CANT SAVE the settings.....!!
Also I CANT CHANGE the setting that already use the numpad..wow everyting **** up.
Also I got a 4000 dpi mouse........OMG im now set to 875 dpi but the game **** the aim.
I played like 1-2 years ago and NO UPDATE FOR THIS...
PLZ FIX THIS
