Fraps recording!!!!!!

Yes the lower you set your settins the better you will get.Use the 800 res.And in order to get the 1440 you need a monitor to support it.

Growler is better at recording.Doesnt take as much fps to record.If your interested in the full growler let me know.I have it at a site I own and you can reg and download it.I will give you the best settings to record with..

what problems do you have with your capture?

please put a sample somewhere.
make a capture, then use virtual dub in direct stream copy mode, make a little selection and save that selection. (or just save 5-6 seconds of avi, directly from fraps)

then upload it somewhere and put here the link...


Belive me.. fraps is a good tool
but it may require a lot of resources. maybe your computer isn't adequate to capture in real time at such resolution. maybe you have a slow hard disk, or not enough memory (ram), or a slow processor...

here's a video i made after a fraps capture. to see him in high detail, use 720 p resolution.

now.. if your computer meets the requirements, you can produce that result.

the key there is "HALFSIZE". this is why your movie is "not as clear" or "not as crisp" as the other HD youtube clips (720 or 1080p)

you should use full size capture
no doubt, the demands for your sistem will be bigger! but is worth!
can your computer handle full resolution capture?
tell the specs of your computer. processor, videocard and memory/hdd

then, after you captured the movie, you should edit it in a program which allow you to export in hd resolutions. this can be sony vegas or adobe premiere pro, and i am convinced there are other programs which allow that

i used vegas 8 for my clip, and i am a rookie in using that program, but is not so hard to do basic cuts/transitions/adding text

here's my quick method:

1. i capture with fraps @ 30 fps, 1024X768
2. i made a template (in vegas) for videos of 960X720 (for 720p)
3. in vegas, i edit my movie
4. i render as wmv, 960x720, which can be sent directly to youtube, or as avi, same resolution, sony codec for maximum quality (but that can be any losless codec, for example huffyuv, or even as uncompressed avi (attention, it's HUGE) which can be transformed later in mp4 with easy h264. this mp4 will be uploaded to youtube

no tutorial. just tried different settings until i get "my method"

This I used growler with default settings.The reason the font is crappy because default record is like 320x240 so it scrunches the text.
Set recording res to record what ever res your game is on..Try it and you will be satisfied;)
