ok, im not sure if this will work for you but you can try it. when you bring up crossfire (the client) bring up your task manager (press ctrl + alt + delete at the same time) and go to the process list. when you are on the process list, look near the bottom of the task manager and click where it says "show processes from all users". now find crossfire in that list, right click it, go down to "set priority" and set it to low.

my ping on windows 7 went from 100-120+ back down to its normal 35 solid.

btw, i dont take credit for this. i got it from a guide and i cant remember where i saw it. =[

hmm..are you the owner of the computer, or on the admin account?
and if you have the option (idk if vista does, i've never had vista) click on the bottom of the task manager where it says "show processes from all users" if you didnt already
