Crossfire Issues on Laptop and Desktop

I have a few issues here. Ever since I started playing Crossfire on my laptop, my laptop never shuts down properly. This only happens if I play Crossfire during that session. If I don't play, my laptop shuts down fine. So since then, I've been forcing my laptop to shut down with the power button. This might have lead to my next issue. Recently, running Crossfire heats my laptop more rapidly than it should, even with an external fan. Also I've went from running at 80-90 fps to 13-15 fps. On my desktop, I always get a "Failure to connect to server" error. Sorry for the block of text, I hope someone can provide some answers. Thanks.

Asfar as your desk top goes, if you are using the newest windows program you probably wont be able to play on the old servers.Try to use the new uk servers. I hade the same problem and no mater how I set the setings in windows or game it did not work. then when the new UK servers came online I was able to play.

The only thing That I can think of for you to check befor you shut down is that if you use xfire it is still running in back ground and needs to be shut down first, or xtrap did not shut down when crossfire shut down. Eather way look in lower left corner of your screen you will see some icons to the left you will see a arrow click on arrow a box will open this shows programs that are running. If you see xfire or xtrap or outher program icons that you started just right click and exit then shut down laptop. hop this helps.

I'm running Windows XP on my desktop. With the failure to connect, I'm getting it when the login screen loads. Right now I have Crossfire uninstalled from both computers and will reinstall them soon.

maybe you are behind a firewall or your virusscanner? add crossfire to exceptions, some virusscanners will say that crossfire is a trojan horse but is absolutely not, because then there weren't so much players wich can just normally play...
