Disconnected Due to Wrong Map Info SOLVED

I have Windows 7, and I think the problem is solved for me by doing this:

1. Clean Install of CF (you probably did this).
2. Right click + Properties of all the .exe files in CrossFire directory and on Compatibility tab, just make it Compatible with Windows Vista, and check the box that says "Run as administrator".
3. Also disable the Antivirus ( I haven't tried it not disabled yet but I think it will work).

Because he didn't closed it, he wants to know if this works for the other people...
  • Sadly doesn't help the people who already run Vista. I rarely get it but it happens. I've noticed this is mainly related to video card and lagg issues most of the time.
  • I was getting this error, and the other two errors like clockwork (Hack Tool Detected, and Incorrect Player info, although these two were much less frequent than Incorrect Map Info) about 7 minutes after logging in. I remember someone had mentioned bypassing their router, and plugging their PC directly into their modem had helped, and someond reported using DMZ helped them. So.. after getting this error many, many times, I decided to bypass my router and plug the PC directly into the modem. I did that 3 days ago, and have only had 2 of these errors since. What does this mean? I'm starting to think that there may be an issue with a certain make or model, or type of functionality with some home routers. I am currently using a Linksys WRT110... I wonder how many others having this issue are using that router, or maybe any Linksys?

All that said, listing something like using compatibility mode, or bypassing ones router, or w/e is NOT A FIX. Please don't label it as such. "Temporary Workaround" yes.

This thread being here kinda makes me think either the other threads weren't read, or weren't taken seriously (which I can understand, to a point, given some of the responses). We have people from many different OS reporting having this issue, so how could it be related to a specific version of windows? People that are running Win XP (like me) are getting these errors, but we don't have the option of running in Vista Compatibility mode, so how could this be a fix??
  • Lunes, it was marked as solved because it worked for the person who originally posted the thread.

As far as routers are concerned, its possible that the game ports aren't being properly forwarded. The game uses port 13008 and xtrap/hgw uses port 16666. Look at the manual for your router and you should find instructions on how to forward those ports to your computer.
