Both are awesome.

If you always burst and aim for the head; Xm8.

Both have their advantages. M4 is accurate with high ROF, and a relatively easy spray pattern. XM8 has a more complex spray pattern, decently accurage with a medium ROF. The only thing is that XM8 has perfect wallbang damage; nothing can hide from you.

Xm8 if your a smart player and using the 100% wallbang to maximum ability.
M4 if you're an amazing headshotter.

I have M4-c and tried xm8, I have to tell you that if you get used to M4, you will find that xm8 'can't kill', because xm8 demands you at least trying to headshot all the time while m4 you can sometime spray and it's Ok

i like xm8 better, i actually find it easier to headshot with... probably the recoil fits me, and u cant go wrong with 100 percent wallbang

M4 has lower recoil and is a better spray weapon but XM8 has better damage and a slightly smaller aiming reticule. You can't go wrong with either weapon. Both are exceptional when it comes to headshotting.

This is one of the few situations in CF where there is no right answer to what gun you should get. Both of these guns are great and very effective if you use them right, but not overpowered at all. Honestly just use whatever one you're most comfortable with, or if you're good with both then whatever one you think looks better.

i used to be a main m4, now a main xm8... both are fairly easy to hs with and burst. i would say the m4 is easier to spray with and the xm8 has a random pattern. sometimes it goes up and left and other times up and right, but then agia nseveral weapons have that spray pattern... when i switched i developed a different type of play style. one in which i try to abuse any box/wooden door i can to my advantage. so i try to play aggressive in maps such as port, BW and factory

M4A1 - If you like: Spraying, Close Quarters Combat, High ROF, The look of the M16 in a smaller, more compact, black look.

XM8 - If you like: Burst Fire, Spraying in CQC like a maniac, 100% Wallbang, Med. RoF, a Scope, the look of a sexy rifle.

OR, you can go with the best gun of ALL TIME...
