horrible ping and brandwith ****.

Hi, I got a problem with crossfire.

I run on a 100 mb/s connection.

As soon as I start crossfire my internet becomes horribly slow, my ping will variate in games from 50-2000. The game is totally unplayable for me like this.

I tried to test the speed of my connection and as soon as I log in my connection goes down to max 10 mb/s.

As soon as I close CF it goes back up to about 70-100 mb/s.

Please help me out.

  • Seriously, nobody? this is the worst support forum ever.
  • it's not that no one wants to help, but rather that no one really knows. me being one of those who don't know. but don't worry. threads in this forum are looked at and answered if an answer is known. I can, however, ask a question or two that may lead to help finding the answer.

Has crossfire always done this, or is it just recently?
If it's a recent development, have you made any changes to your computer since it started happening?
What operating system (OS) are you using?
Where is your location? (Are you in the U.S. or elsewhere? If in the U.S., what state?)
How is your ping in other games?

I'll leave it at that. Hopefully with answers to these questions I can help you find an answer.
  • contact your ISP and ask them to run a speed connection test to z8 and they should be able to find out where most of your connection speed is running off to

It's only recently started doing this.
And no, no changes to my comp since it started doing that.
    I use windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
    I live in belgium
and my ping in other games is perfect, I never go over 150, wherever the server is located (us = 150 | Europe = 20-70)
  • that's really strange. well, you can try what piemonkey suggested. If that doesn't work, try doing a system restore to a point when crossfire wasn't doing this. not too far back though. it can be possible for something to change on your computer without you knowing. I'm pretty sure that your computer wouldn't just go haywire on crossfire for no reason. so just try a system restore to a point maybe a week ago or something. if that doesn't work, just reply here again
