Getting a new laptop
I'm getting a new laptop [and a mouse as well; darn this touchpad
] and I really wanted to get started on editing and creating videos and montages for Crossfire. I was wondering what you guys would recommend GPU-wise [could be desktop too, I'll find a laptop GPU equivalent for it] for 60 FPS constant at 1280x800 while recording [hopefully CF comes out with the 720p resolution fast].
Yes, it has to be a laptop
Also, what recording program do you recommend for well...recording? FRAPS, Growler, etc. I kind of wanted the best quality rather than the least heavy performance-wise.
I was looking at the Asus G60 with a GTS360M and i5 @ 2.26 GHz.
Any help is appreciated.

Don't buy from bestbuy, they are extremely overpriced.
You want a well priced not to big (Since you are lugging it around) laptop that runs most game at 60+ fps?

What is your budget anyway? -
The best free program I can think of would be... (drum roll please)
XFIRE!
No watermark, pretty high quality, and you can change the settings to record at 60 FPS. Get the videos by either right clicking on the videos in the Xfire whatchamacallit and clicking "open directory", or just manually go to the folder that it stores all the videos in. Unless you downloaded it weird it should default to C:\ProgramData\Xfire\videos. The only thing is it sometimes has audio lag if it's a long clip, but if you record without sound for montages it's not a problem. -

Or you can get a cracked Fraps? -
I have been browsing around Newegg and other retailers but I have noticed that BestBuy primarily carries the cheaper versions of some of the Asus models [for example, the G73 there is the 1600x900 version rather than the 1200/1080P version]. If I was to spend the $1200 on the laptop you posted I would be getting a 5730 rather than a 5870 [the G73].
Frankly, I was wondering if a GTS 360M [which is around a GT240/9800GT from what I can tell] or a GTX 260M [which is around a 9800 GTX from what I can tell] could pull off 60 FPS or even 30 FPS constant while recording.
I guess to make this easier would be to ask other editors what videocard and recorder they use, as well as the FPS they primarily receive. -

The GTS360M and the GTX 260M would play 80+ on Crossfire. Pair that with the Core i7 and you can record with no itches.
I have an HD4560 low-profile and a dual core CPU. I get a constant 45+ fps, and this is with a main-stream desktop PC.
