Cool "duck blind" effect I discovered on cage, in Excavation map in Mutant Mode

This isnt as much of a gameplay suggestion to better the game as it is simply a suggestion to all the players that play Excavation map in Mutant Mode. I dont know if this has ever been done or figured out up until now. But I play the heck out of MM, especially Excavation map & Ive never seen this done before, so I think I may have figured out a cool new trick & I wanted to share this with everyone.

While playing Excavation sometimes youll see people using sprays on the inside of the cage, you have to hit it just right at a certain spot to get the spray to even work on the cage. I thought Id try spraying on the outside of the cage and what do you know, its solid on the outside but you dont see anything from the inside at all. Like its not even there.

This offers a slight tactical advantage as the mutants trying to get in the cage, cant see anything on the inside, except through the small opening. Its also just kinda fun too. ( :

You have to crouch down, directly in front of the solid bar thats part of the left side of the opening, while doing so turn to the left at about a 45 degree angle while keeping your aim only slightly upwards & your cross-hairs directly on the other solid bar thats a little to the left from the one your standing in front of, and hit "T" or whatever your spray button is.

With the right spray & if done right, this will blanket the entire lower portion of the outside of the cage so no one can see through it from the outside, but again, everyone on the inside can see perfectly fine.

This effect work especially well if more than one person uses their spray. Hope to see lots of people doing this in the future, have fun.

  • Nah, instructional video isnt needed & I dont have a Youtube account anyway. Its not too hard at all, just experiment with it. You just have to hit that left bar.

Walk up all the way to the left side of the opening as far as you can go. Crouch & while crouching almost directly in front of the left bar ( to the left or right of it a tiny bit is ok )thats part of the square opening, you just have to have your cross-hairs aimed on the other solid bar thats just a tiny bit to the left of the one youre standing in front of & at an upwards angle. And as long as your aim isnt too far up it will work.

And then just keep tapping your spray key while moving your cross-hairs around a tiny tiny bit till it sticks. Its not hard at all, & then just keep doing it till you get the hang of it. ( :

Oh, is that why they do that? I've seen it a handful of times but figured it'd be just as annoying as beneficial. That must also be why as a mutant you can't hit them from outside the cage but from inside you can shoot or knife them.

Hey Purity. ( : You mean when they do it from the inside? Yeah it is kind of annoying as it obstructs your view to the outside, but when done on the outside, it only blocks the mutants from seeing inside. All the humans on the inside can still see outside.

Also, actually from the outside, mutants can still nail the humans on the inside of the cage when theyre too close to the sides. It happens quite often & that too is very annoying, lol. ( :

I was talking from the outside I've seen it done. I never noticed (if I got in the cage. ;D) that you could see through it though.

Damn, I have tried plenty of times with people close enough to hit and it hasn't worked. I've never seen it done either so I just assumed. You're more experienced so I'll take your word for it and retract my ignorant remarks. ;D
  • Nah, its all good. Ive never done it myself either actually, just seen it happen one too many times. I think its referred to as walling. Like for example, in Zone 13 on the ledge below the roof, next to the window, Ive seen where mutants have punched through to the other side of the wall and nailed the humans, or even when up on the roof they get you through the ceiling. Or when standing in front of one of the glass windows they go around the other side and punch through the window.

IDK, anytime Ive ever tried this I just end up punching the object in front of me, no matter how I twist & turn & maneuver. Im not sure how others do it & Ive never bothered to learn as I think its just a cheap & unfair kill anyway lol.
