i think with army history, the color silver, is more "pure" by army ranking standards, so therefore. 2nd LT is gold, 1st is Silver.

and by pure i mean like silver back then was the color of honor, justice e.t.c if you catch my drift.

It should be PLATINUM Bar and not Silver Bar since Platinum is better than Gold.
