Competitive Play - Good Ideas.
A collective of ideas to improve competitive play in CrossFire. Please discuss, suggest new items, and bump this thread. All these ideas tie in with creating a new server for hardcore competitive play

-allow joining while the game is in progress
they can only spawn during the strat/freeze time. Only people from the same clan.
-adjust round timer
1:45 is good. Add an extra 5 or 10 seconds of "strat time" before the round.
-friendly fire
full would be nice, whatever the other versions have is a start.
-randomize spawns
makes the game more balanced and competitive.
-remove names showing up when the crosshair is near the model.
would allow smoke grenades and flashbangs to work as advertised. Also you wouldn't be able to spot people hiding at corners and stuff just by pointing your crosshair there. Also due to a strange bug with the coding, its possible to see player names through stairs/wooden objects and even walls.
-allow passwording of rooms on clan server
would allow clans to restrict who can enter their room.
-allow spectator slots on clan server
would allow for broadcasting of matches via wogl or other services/individuals.
This a a draft Ladder Equation that could possibly replace the current point system, especially if Z8 decides to go through with Bruce's suggestions and possibly my Team suggestions.
The Equation uses a "Security Point" system to determind how much the Placement Point count changes due to a win or loss.
Format
Team1Name(OldPlacementPoints)(OldSecurityPoints) [Team1Score - Team2Score] Team2Name(OldPlacementPoints)(OldSecurityPoints) ~ Team1Name(UpdatedPlacementPoints)(UpdatedSecurityPoints) // Team2Name(UpdatedPlacementPoints)(UpdatedSecurityPoints)
Examples
B(1000)(0%) beats A(1000)(0%) 10 - 0. B(1100)(100%) // A(900)(100%)
C(1000)(0%) ties A(900)(100%) 5 - 5. A(900)(100%) // C(900)(100%)
B(1100)(100%) beats D(1100)(100%) 5 - 5. B(1100)(100%) // D(1100)(100%)
D(1100)(100%) beats E(1000)(0%) 6 - 4. D(1100)(100%) // E(1040)(100%)
D(1100)(100%) beats C(950)(100%) 8 - 2. D(1070)(80%) // C(980)(80%)
C(950)(0%) [5 - 5] D(1100)(100) = C(1100)(100) // D(1100)(100)
~
C(950)(0%) [4 - 6] D(1100)(100) = C(1140)(100) // D(1100)(100)
~
C(900)(50) [5 - 5] D(1100)(100) = C(1050)(75) // D(1050)(75)
~
Equation and example
Limes(900)(50) [5 - 5] Lemons(1100)(100) ~ Limes(1050)(75) // Lemons(1050)(75)
Team1 = Who you are finding the points for.
Team2 = The opposing team.
a = Team1's Old Placement Points
b = Team1's Security Points
c = Team1's Round Count
d = Team1's Updated Placement Points
e = Team2's Old Placement Points
f = Team2's Security Points
g = Team2's Round Count
h = Team2's Updated Placement Points
The orange is the thing that changes.
Team1's Placement Point Equation.
Team1 = Lemons
If a > e then
d = e + [(a - e) / 2) + ((c - g) * 10) + (f - a)]If a < e thend = e + [(a - e) / 2) + ((c - g) * 10) - (f - a)]Therefore the right equation for team Lemons' points is:
d = 1100 + [(900 - 1100) / 2) + ((5 - 5) * 10) + (100 - 50)]
Does anyone actually get this?
The Ideal
The increase the level of competitive play in crossfire, change the chemistry and overall respect for fellow players, and hopefully make the competitive community worthy of recognition. Pipe dream? Maybe. But who cares?
The Motivation
Besides thinking it over, and some upcoming events which I'm not at liberty to disclose, the main motivation for this is the fact that, now that WOGL will be partnering with G4Box, there may be a bigger chance that good ideas from this community will have a much bigger impact than before. Especially in the competitive area.
What is a Team?
A Team would be a group of players similar to a clan. However, a Team would have a few unique features.
A 10 Member Limit
In order for a team to be successful in competitive play, they need to get to know each other. They need to know each other's play style as well as they know themselves. With the current default player limit of clans (25) this is not very encouraged.
Competitive Opportunities
a) Tie it in with the WOGL partnership. Have specific leagues and tournaments for serious teams.
b) Separate Format. Dedicate another server for competitive play among teams. This server would have specific weapon restrictions (possibly according to WOGL rules of any Team based league or tournament going on) and specific match format. This server would also allow players to join at any time, as disconnections would always be an issue. Another thing would be a locked round format, such as options between First to Nine and 11 Rounds Per Side and such.
The Reasoning
By creating a separate system of smaller Teams, this would build chemistry and respect among the players within each team. By creating respect for close friends, you help influence tolerance and respect for other Teams and players. By doing this, you create a more friendly and welcoming competitive community, which has a much bigger opportunity to grow.
There are more options and expansions this can provide, I've only scratched the surface. Hopefully the CrossFire community will dig deeper.
I hope that one day that the players of CrossFire will compete not to win, but to improve.

in regards to friendly fire.. I think a good way to even out the game from those guns such as the xm8 etc... would be to make FF do as much DMG as the gun can through a box.
Ex. xm8 = 100% dmg through box, therefore it would do 100% dmg to your teammates. -
All great idea's.
As for friendly fire. I think escape has a good idea.
For box damage on guns i feel that some guns should do more damage through boxes. (i.e. M4, ak, k2) and some should obviously be reduced. I think a could value for both box and FF is 50-70%.
