Simple Anti-Cheat suggestion.

I've heard certain Anti-Cheats take random screenshots thru-out the game.
Z8 should incorporate this into the game. Just 2 or 3 random screenshots of each players screen per game and at the end have an option to save it or not. Each player could save this and check up on what each player is seeing on their screen.

Tell me if this is possible. Would be an easier way to report chammers, wallers, custom-cursor users.

Yes, I know this is supposed to be in suggestions, but few people actually check those.

  • Also this would help alot on the backlog of replays slowing down the ban process. 1 screenshot of somebody with green men on their screen is an easy ban. Instead of searching thru replays (which will still be needed for aimbotters and such). Also if you catch their hack menu up on the screen Z8 will have an easier time finding which hacks aren't patched.
  • Its actually a good idea, but it would be pretty hard to implement it, i think

It might be hard, but in the end it would be more helpful. Also the ingame report system in the UI would make it even easier to report a single screenshot in 10 seconds or less.

I think tahts what SS does.

It's not 'your' screen, it's other peoples.

Of course it's POSSIBLE. Probable? Most likely not. With the amount of current players and the amount of new players signing up every day the server space they would need to accommodate those screenshots would be of massive proportions. That would simply take more resources from Z8 and IMO they are most likely not willing to spend those extra resources. In the end, this is a business. X-Trap works for them so x-trap is their anti-cheat. Plain and simple. No ill-will towards Z8 by any means. The best thing for them to do would be to go out and spend the money to have legitimate anti-cheat coded. It's the only real solution if you don't want hackers. End thread.

I'm sure z8 is not short on server space, the replays are already atleast 10times the size of a screenshot. Also if they are such a legitimate company, buying a bit more space is like a drop in the bucket. In the end if hackers are forced not to hack, they either quit or buy another advantage aka ZP.

Forget buying the ZP part. You just said why they aren't more strict. The last thing they want is people leaving.

The more hackers gone the more people playing because they enjoy the game.

If people from Combat Arms and War Rock hear there are little to none hackers on Crossfire they will switch games.

Good point. Well I still stand by my original statement that if they really want hackers gone and they are the "legitimate" company as you stated, they should go out and do it right. Have an anti-cheat coded. Plain and simple. Forget the rest of it.

Imo z8 isn't doing enough to make the game more enjoyable. IDC about new material, if you aren't enjoying the game you won't wait for the new material. This is a simple fix to change the way reports are made and read. Easier bans means more Hackers banned.
  • It'll be really good, but it would spike the room when it does.
I think the only way to find a hacker is either they're obvious or growler/fraps.
  • WOGL's Anti-cheat takes screen shots of your screen I am pretty sure.
  • That will be really hard to deal with. How many people play CF? multiply by average amount of games per day, multiply by 3 screen shots of each game. I don''t think they will be able to handle that. I agree it's an excellent idea, but it won't happen. I have spoken to FallenAngel about this long time ago. It would be nice to have it though. :p
  • Its easier to look through millions of screen shots for green men than it is to look through tens of thousands of replays and watching for people that look suspicious.
  • Would lag the game more for slower PCs. You would know when they take a screen shot, 3 seconds later when your PC restores to 15 fps, you are dead.

If your pc doesn't meet the specs that are provided you shouldn't be playing anyways.
  • I believe the easiest and most efficient way is to upgrade x-trap constantly, just like z8 is doing right now, instead of moderators' checking each replay files to see ha.cking or pro-, and the ha.ckers have to pay decent money to get these ha.cks, I've noticed less and less ha.ckers in TDM games now. good job, z8

As fast as x-trap is patching new hacks are out the next week, also vip hacks are out within hours.

The thing is, the replays are saved onto your computer, not on z8 servers. Your idea is good yes but that would need way to much hard drive space just to save screenshot (as they are in BMP format, it take around 1mb/picture)

We could be given the option to save the screenshots, just as we are given the option to save the screenshots. 16x3 is 48. 48 screenshots at max per game is still not much to save to your harddrive. You could also request just one players screenshots.
  • It is like a program called Punk Buster that games like America's Army uses... it would help prevent hacking.

Punk Buster is coded into the game, and it's hard to implement Punk Buster after the game has been coded.
  • I'd rather know if an IP/client ban would be possible
like if 5 of your accounts get a perm ban for hacking, all accounts you use will get an autoban as well (if it's sure that it's really your account)
It was your cat who downloaded all of those hacks and you're totally innocent? Go slap it and get a better excuse imo.
  • 1 random screenshot per player per game would be enough, especially since nobody would know when it would be taken.
