What gun has the most DPS? (To all you people who dont know what that is, read below)

DPS (abbriveated Damage Per Second) is either two things: the amount of time it takes to bring down a person's heath with a gun from 100 to 0, or how much damage is dealt in a certain amount of time. For example, lets look at the aug's dps. it has good speed and decent damage, so simply use this formula (d x s) and you will get your number. the higher the number, the more DPS the gun has.

Burst damage and DPS are two different things. Burst is how much damage one bullet does, and DPS is more sustained damage. For example, the ak-47 has good burst damage, but not that good of a speed, making it a decent DPS (d x s)

Now that you know the concept of dps, what gun do you think has the most DPS?

Amazingly enough, I'd say XM8, because it shoots at same speed that the scar but haves more damage. Or maybe G36, highest SMG's ROF, with a rifle class damage.

I will say this question is not complete.

First of all, DPS is a way of thinking to conclude a damage of a gun, yet it is not good enough.

A gun has recoil while firing it, if you don't care about the recoil, of course guns like the AKs will win.

Without thinking about recoil, then Scar and Kriss will most likely to win after AKs.

Lastly, we forget about headshots. If we put headshots into this competition, then all the guns which can't perform one shot kill with headshot will be gone, and all thats left are all winners.

G36 is a rifle, I think you would need to specify at what range to get a accurate "best dps" for the fact that up close a AK47 is heads and shoulders better than other rifles imo. Mid range the AK47 is still great but generally the M4A1 starts to shine since you get the head shots so often with mid to long range w/ it. You can't really do a pure dps w/ this game because a head shot is a kill and some do better at getting head shots than others.

the AWM, it can kill 3 people lined up and 3 more on reload fastest dps in the game. Do the math if you want or go test it but if your talking sustained stand off, fire power, AWM deagle combo very high dps. It's called the finger of God for a reason.

And if you line up 8 AFK players in Monaco and shoot at their heads with an M16? DPS. S = Second. AWM fires too slow.

I KNOW it's a rifle. I'm saying it got an SMG ROF, basically it behaves like an SMG without being one, thus the higher damage wich is standart for rifles. It's still the dominating gun in the ROF section of Rifles, besides, it CAN be used like an SMG.

There is no G36 in this game.

But yeah, XM8 has a sweet DPS.

First- An M16 cant go through 8 people HS or otherwise.

Second- Awm has no rate of Fire, it has a reload factor and even though its slow, quick scoping more then makes up for it. Getting 3 kills stacked in Pug egypt or ship is easy with AWM ive never heard of another weapon in the game that can do that in a live match pug or otherwise.

He asked for highest dps weapon, he did not stipulate rifle, pistol, or any of the sub classes.

Line up 15 in FFA

I don't think m16 kills them all btw (not even your 8) It would probably just make a spastic movement so you miss entirely :P
AWM is also 400 dmg on a HS (just try it on a green guy)

i agree with the people who say the g36 has the most DPS. though the ak has power, its not very fast (use formula damage x speed). its also surprising that the g36 is one of the least used guns, probably because the biggest downside is how much ammo it burns through. i would consider using the g36 is there was a BM version of it.

Seriously? G36 is a generalization. I could say that there is no AK in this game, no M4, or no M9. How about no AWP, no M700, no Glock, no Winchester...

Nitpicky people are met with inverse nitpickiness. Generalize, for all our sakes.

There is a major flaw in your DPS judgement. That is thusly, weapons do different damage depending on range and body-part hit.

Saying which gun is the best DPS gun is wholely dependant on where and from how far the target is being hit. Accuracy and recoil plays a major part as well, so one gun may even be a different DPS to a different user.

As far as on the bench at point blank, you just need to compare ROF and power. The fastest gun that deals the most power wins. The G36 seems an ideal candidate, but I'd hardly say that it is the best weapon to use to kill someone...
