look i have windows xp and installed crossfire. but when i press start game an error message comes with the title cf v3 patcher. it says failed to download version .ini. what should i do?

Try visiting this link:

It should return a "Directory Listing Denied" error. If you do not get this error its possible that something is blocking communication with the update servers. If you're on a router it could be that the necessary ports are not being forwarded to your computer. The proper ports are 13008 for Crossfire and 16666 for Xtrap.

i got the error like you said. what now?

Are you on a router? If so, what is the manufacturer and model number? I should be able to put together a rough guide on how to forward the ports.
