I have to use it everyday. But you can also use it via XFire. So you can still talk ingame and to others without both running. Though the MSN groups don't work correctly in XFire, so I gotta run both, but my computers suck anyway, so very little difference.

i use msn all the time

It's an IM client. You type stuff and hit enter, the other person sees it. In my experience it's about on par with all the others.

I use both MSN and Yahoo Messenger.
Each has advantages and disadvantages.
