Just an Idea

Although X-Trap has drastically reduced the amount of hackers, they are still out there and as annoying as ever.
Since they aren't willing or able to pursue the web sites that are supplying the players with hacks, how about if Z8 focused on a few individuals?
I haven't a clue about the law, but based on what I've seen being done about illegally downloading torrents, would it be possible for Z8 to sue some individuals for using hacks in the game? If you do it to a few and make sure it is well known, it might discourage or scare the rest from trying.
Let me know what you think, or if there are any law students that actually have time to go through this forum, let me know if this a viable option.

  • i'd say make ip banning the solution, it seems that people who get banned just make another account and hack again

You sir are an idiot... You will be givin the same ip address until you RELEASE your ip which you have to do manualy. Simply disconnecting and reconnecting won't do. And ontop of that you have to know what ip address are available before you can assign yourself an ip address.
And to the topic. Z8 games won't go through with a lawsuit. Too much money on the line for one and too much money put into it.
  • I've known games where they banned the CPU. I think it was the MAC Address or something.

Thats what they did. They would have to get a whole new NIC card since their MAC address was banned which is physically embedded into the pc.

You do realise that all ISPs have you set up with an auto ip address right?
Everything nowadays is set to Dynamic ip which means it automaticaly fetchs an ip address for you. I mean sure, every now and then your ip address will change. But for the most part, its almost always the same. The best way would be MAC address banning.
It bans only one computer, no one else other than the one person will be banned so other than that specific player no one will be complaining...

In no where in my post say you couldn't change it. I said that a new NIC card would have to be installed. And there are people that know how to change their mac address on their own but its a pain. Networking technology seems to have an impact on my life...

Of course this will be a very good thing to do. But it should also be the will to help of all the community .
Example of how here they destroy everything you try to do for the well fare of the game .: I made a thread and ask to post all SS of the high rank QQer in game. This would have had the effect of being " OMG if I QQ in game I may see my name on the forum and I will be like a big noob" this would have discourage QQers and avoid too much unfair kicks also .
But the thread finished like a public toilet bowl that has not been clean for a week.
I also ask to put an option about a possibility to delete undesirable post , so that someone who make a thread may keep it clean and avoid silly and free flame and also keep the forum rats who farm for the higher title . ( lol those same people or rats will point finger to ADIGA.)
good luck. the idea is nice I vote yes

im a law/business student but i havent done any of this type of law yet, much of the law side of my course isnt going to be done till next year. I can tell you most rubbish on irish law though >.>

It would be very expensive though, and i guess no hackers (brasillians) would stop even if Z8 did do this.
  • I suppose it would be expensive to persue a lawsuit, and obviously it wouldn't be 100% effective since people have been sued for downloading music and millions continue to do it.
Then instead of suing individuals, which would be difficult and expensive for
Z8, which I already knew when I suggested it, why don't they put the sites out of buisness by persuing them? They are publicly advertising and releasing illegal programs that effect the product of another company.
I assume that persuing the people that release the hacks would be easier since there can't be that many of them. Yes you could get the sites shut down with some effort, but I guess it would be more effective if you shut down the hackers themselves, not the people that use those hacks.
