If you really want to, first step would be cutting yourself from any gaming communities and people you know online. Remove people from friends lists, unbookmark sites, uninstall games.
It's not the games you get addicted to, it's the people and friendships you build along side them. That is one of the reasons people get so hooked up on MMOs. People start depending on you to play and you depend on them. If you stop playing you feel you are letting numerous people down, and you are, but it's just something you need to deal with if you want to quit. -

I agree with you %100.
Since i still want to play video games but still have a life, i would just like to play an 1hour maybe 2 hours when im free.
What im going to try doing is get more active with basketball.

Good luck, I failed at that. You have to really take control. Guess where I am now? Night school because I dropped out. I was and still am super addicted to games and slowly drifting apart.
Just put a password on your computer that only your mom knows and don't let her give it to you. Raise your grades! It's super important! A lot of people think it isn't but I found out the hard way.
Btw 6 hours is nothing, I spend over 15 hours online everyday. Lol -

excuse me, but that last post wasn't a troll post[MOD]LadyShy wrote: »Wannabejedi stop with your constant trolling please.
i was actually telling the truth, if all games had that screen, think about all the people who would put down their games and actually do something with their lives?
i request an apology -
The best way to go about this is steadily cut down on your gaming time. Set yourself a time to get off the computer. When that time comes, regardless of what you're doing, shut down. It doesn't matter if you'll miss your scrim, annoy your raid leader, get kicked from your guild, whatever. Just do it. If you can't do it yourself, try this program. It will automatically shut down your PC at a specified time.

Take the energy you put into Cross Fire or whatever and apply it to something else.
I'm kind of a competitive person and over the winter I was like "Fk man nobody on this block is going to have a cleaner driveway than mine."
It worked. Every time it snowed I would be right out there hand shoveling it clean.
Honestly, you have to just go cold turkey. Don't try any of this other bs crap. I took my mouse and put it away and started using a ball mouse. I couldn't play FPS and I just sorta lost interest in the computer after that. Started working out and helping out around the house. -
Kudos to you for recognizing that you have a bad addiction, half the people can't even recognize that it's seriously bad.
I quit Call of Duty out of bad internet addiction a few years back but I'm much better now.
just keep yourself busy and away from your computer.
