I think everybody should stick with an XP system
The XP is so versatile and can take most sound and GFX cards. -

You'll be very hard pressed to find a laptop without Vista on it these days. As for a good brand, I'm a big fan of ASUS. My current laptop is an ASUS and it's worked perfectly since I opened the box. HP is a decent brand, although they're more budget machines. I'm not a fan of Acer, given that out of three Acer laptops in my family two of them died totally and the third is on the way out. Toshiba has some decent models as well. -

Toshiba satellite is good, my dad has it wouldn't recommend it for gaming though.
Keep in mind you don't need a big screen if you own a desktop (just plug it into your PC monitor) -

Only laptops you can find really with XP is the atom laptops. I think Im going to venture for a HP laptop since we had 2 HP towers already and they seem to be working great and its been a year for one that we owned and 5 years that we owned the other. I'd go for a sony but by looking at the specs its like you paying for the name. -
I agree with DeadEyes first reply. Alienware is really flashy and they are "Eye Candy." They run games good but for the price, you might as well get a desktop or two for half the price of an average Alienware laptop.
ibuypower.com has a core custom computer creater-meaning that they give the core of the computer and you can customize everything else. -
Well i have to agree that Alienware laptops are way over priced. Also i use ASUS M50Vm for gaming, i have been using it since last year november and its awesome. I had no problems with it and i have been playing all the new games on it ..
Good luck with your choice. -
Mhmm, newegg is a great site to buy from just because it's organized and cheap. I doubt you can get a performance laptop equal to alienware for $700-1000 though.
Compare a laptop to another laptop, and most likely, the one with the higher price works better.
But compare a desktop to a laptop, the desktop can be half the price and It will run about the same if not better than what laptop you compare it to.
Alienware are good computers. But, don't bother getting one unless you won one from a gaming tournament or contest. -

But, you said it yourself.
They ARE high quality. Components inside are high quality. You would have to build one yourself to match the high quality components inside the laptop.
Alienware is owned by Dell which is, I say the biggest consumer brand in PCs/Laptops industry and they have good customer support, also if you have an alienware, the quality of the customer support doubles.
The price is pretty steep and
thats why I didnt buy it
