OmniThought's Thoughts On How To Improve Clan Competitiveness

Clan sizes need to be reduced. With clans able to be so large, it's too easy for good clans to simply merge together and reduce the competition in the community. With 100 person clans, I see there eventually being a standing rivalry between two clans, and that's it. Of course, that would be in tandem with the Global Risk Vs. Black List theme, but we already have those two overarching clans.

My suggestion: clan sizes be reduced to 32 people. (two teams of 8 GR Team professionals, two teams of 8 BL Team professionals). There really isn't a need for clans to be larger than that.

Solutions to problems with implementing that solution: Clans would be notified well in advance if this was ever to go through, and would have time to decide who would continue to be in the 32 member clan and who would splinter off into their own clans.

Time frame for implementation: This probably cannot occur any time soon, so for now, good clans should restrain themselves from merging into 100-person super groups. It really doesn't do any good for competition purposes, as there's no point in having all that talent in one clan, not fighting against one another.

  • All good clans are small sized, for the most part. It's useless to have so many players in a single clan if you never get to create a bond with the same players as you go. So your theory to me is garbage, small active clans are much more competitive than large clans. 100 members is fine. some clans want to be a community clan and it should stay that way. Two good clans merging simply means that all the good players get less of a chance to play in scrims or tournaments.

You're agreeing with me while telling me that my theory is garbage. If clan sizes were reduced, less people would be simply hanging out in "community clans" and there would be more small clans, providing the incentive as well as giving clans a more competitive purpose. Right now, most clans are either "community clans" or non-competitive clans. The system that the smaller, more competitive clans use should be spread to other clans.

On another note: what's the point of having a community clan if you have a friend's list? It may be fun and all but the point of a clan is not only to enjoy being in a group with your friends but actually play against other clans with your friends, and in "community clans", not many people are seriously playing against other clans. There's a social side to all multiplayer games, but there's also a gaming side, and if the point of you being in a clan is just to hang out then why not hang out on XFire or get FaceBook.

Btw, whats going on with your clan. You guys or your leader haven't been on vent.
