Hey. a friend of mine has got vista (32bit) and he installed cf a time ago.
he is registered and anything.

but he cant play cf.. the things in the g4g4box doesnt show (news, play button and so on)
even when he clicks there, wheres the play button, it doesnt change anything..

he tried something like:

close / open
reboot
run as admin
run in compatiblemode -> xp > sp2

what can we do?

I had this happen to me, It was because of my Anti-Virus. He need's to run his AV and see if it alerts that cf_* is trying to access the internet. And he needs to allow it. After that he can put it back in Gamer Mode. That is how I got it to work for me.

One thing he should try is to Uninstall Internet Explorer 8. it may sound absurd but my friend was having the same problem but since crossfire use webpage on is menu (announcement etc..) it just doesnt show up with IE8 installed.

Hey

He disabled firewall/antivirus, it was not the problem, it freezes too..

But he cant deinstall Internet Explorer, why? there was no entry in the software list..

Control Panel -> Add/Remove -> Window Components.

Maybe a game component is quarantined by the AV? check the quarantined list of the AV?

nothing in the quarantine list, and no internet explorer at the windows components..
