Should I buy a pistol? I don't wanna waste my GP because its a pain to get a lot, and I don't have much.

ya its always good to have a back up gun and it helps out alot but if your going to buy crates tho then you better brake those guns you get so you can get more gp

its not so important but sometimes when ur out of ammo or u need to reload

and u dont have time here comes the time of side arms

but if u dont have enough gp

just dont buy one

In close up battles, I find that having a pistol is really useful. My M9 saves me a good deal of the time when I would otherwise have to reload my primary.

I built up like this:
Rank up to Sergeant -> DEagle
Rank up to Staff Sergeant -> AWM
Buy a rifle.

If you don't wanna have an AWM (well being able to use the AWM and being able to snipe is always good), and buy a few rifles, go ahead. Wanna save some GP, buy the P228 instead of DEagle.

if you wanna buy a pistol do it because it helps ALOT anaconda if you know how to one shot to the head or fast body shots deagle body shots and hs but i say deagle
