Help with GIMP

I just finished my FIRST sig.. I saved it and all but how do I like SAVE it as a pic. not just save it so if I open it all GIMP will open.. So i can upload it? ^^

Am i making any sense?

When you save, include the file extension in the name. If you want JPEG, save as name.jpg rather than just name.

Tell it to flatten in that case, or save in a format that can handle transparency, such as .gif or .png. GIF and PNG have lower quality however.

IMG is not a format. But if you're asking if it will work with the IMG tags, then yes.
