I am sure people will kill other people because they think the world is gonna end. And then they are gonna get thrown in jail depending on whether they killed themselves after there killing spree or not. -

How about it was a little more based on the fact that people /naturally/ will die that year. And even specifically on the date of December 12th.
It's a philosophical thing, that's all.

lol the funny thing about it is that some ppl literally go crazy over it. like in Y2K there were ppl u would just randomly kill or **** other ppl because they thought the world was gonna end, then all that happens is there thrown in jail for 25 years. haha pwned

The Mayan calendar doesn't start over like ours.
Theirs is longer but theirs comes to an end where as ours repeats itself.
Actually, ours comes to an end on December 31st every year. The end of the Mayan calendar is the same thing. It's simply the end of a cycle. -

The Mayans predicted that when THEIR calendar ends the world will also end.
No where in my post did I say it was an infinite calendar. In fact I said the opposite.
Once again, Mayans believed everything comes to an end.

This is your problem right here. First of all the Mayans didn't believe that everything ended on the last day of their calender. They simply believed it was the end of a cycle, something very similar to December 31st for us. The media loves to overhype 2012 and come up with lots of crazy doomsday conspiracy theories. -

You didnt say that it is infinite, i just wanted to point out, every calendar has to have its end..
And the fact Mayans predited end of the world with the end of its calendar isnt a fact - nobody can tell this for sure, its just a guess - their ancestors says that the end of the world wont happen..
