pointless restrictions

Hey peeps,

not sure where this belongs but here's the situation:

For the next 9 months I live in a boarding school. I have my own laptop in
my room but still have to go through the school's connection.
My school are pretty ignorant about what they block. I don't care about website-blocks, thats what web-proxies are for...

But my problem is that the admin have managed to block any application other than
camino, explorer and firefox form accessing the internet. So i have the game installed, thats all sorted, but when I start up I can't get as far as the auto-patcher, because the block won't let CF connect.

If anyone knowes any way I could avoid/bypass this, I would be incredibly grateful :)
Don't hate, It's the weekend, my study is done, im bored and no, im not a crying laggy lil kid. So PLEASE free me lol

    kill admin/hack into admins acount

    remove firewall
  • Do you have physical access to the admin computer?

    J/w
  • Punch the admin server computer till he dies and say
    ALLOW ME TO PLAY CFFFFFFF

    An excellent idea :D

    cheers peeps

edit: Ive found from other sources that I could go to the admin and ask him to
unblock a specific (web) port, namely that of crossfire, only I would of course
tell him it was for some other program.
So does anyone know what port CF runs through?
  • run crossfire, open command prompt, type netstat

if you're a smart cookie you'll figure it out
  • Oh wow >.> That's a stupid idea. The school shouldn't care what you go on. It's your laptop/computer.
Maybe you should talk to them.
  • lawl yeah, or you can be a script kiddie and change the firewall settings if you can access the server terminal.

1.download a little program called OPH crack, make sure its for the right operating system.

    2. burn OPH to a disk

    3. insert disk, go to computer bios, change to BOOT FROM CD

    4. run the program

    5. write down the password

    6. restart, go to bios, boot from HD

    7. insert P/w

    8. change settings...

umm my friend and i did this at my 6th form, cos he was a boarder and we were annoyed with the proxies, no1 found out i dont think. but actually i dont recommend doing this cos you'll probably be suspended or something.

going to the School ICT staff and asking them to unblock it may work, if youre polite.

AWESOME :) sounds like a plan cheers
edit: 1) insert disk in admin comp or my comp?
    2) run the programm as in run CF?
    3) will that give me the admin password?
    4) can i do all this from my laptop? (another way of putting Q1 lol)

"netstat is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
