Making a Low ping, spike High with Hack

We all saw one player with a low ping of 70, spike to over 1000. Every time he was coming up on the door way in Alaska, he would make himself lag over 1000. And get are player
with a head shot, he did this 9 times in the game. At no other time he would lag in the game.
We all watch him do this, and I know he had control of this somehow....Is this a new Hack?

Not technically a hack if this is really what happened, though on some games, ppl can and will run a lot of junk programs(Limewire especially) and download files to cause them to lag harder, it's possible that a lag switch can be used to do the same thing also.

But that stuff is rare......did you save the replay? Or take screenshots? It's likely the guy just lagged pretty hard, that's all.

I already got that in SnD, some kid made his ping spike, then his spike was over, right when he was in front of me and hs'ed me, quite lame but people can control their ping spikes to get kills.

It's called modem tapping. They momentarily unplug their connection to the internet for maybe 2-3 seconds then plug it back in so they won't d/c. They can still move around and things so when they come back they could be in front of you.

As Rex said above. Modem tapping.
Like in Soldier Front, you turn off your modem and spike to 1000 ping. Go kill their players and turn it back on. You can't die and they will all die.

I spike to 1000 ping every 5 seconds regardless of where I'm at. Damned wireless internet.

Modem tapping.
It is as old as the online gaming era.
But its not switching off the modem.
There is switch to block traffic.
When the switch is activated, it blocks all network traffic till it is released.
Whe some1 uses this at the game, it causes the person using a lag switch to appear to opponents as frozen while in fact they are still able to play locally and gain advantages in the game. When the switch is relaesed, the local game device will resynchronize with the online game that appears to opponents in a sudden burst.

Obviously it is a cheat.
I have seen some guys doing it repeteadly around the corners.

Seems like he is modem tapping. IE: Pressing the standbye button on his router running shortly around the map, unpressing the standbye button and doing this while showing the server pings that he is still active, ... shorta like hacking but, not.

Idk how ppl can even do it......I go aggro nuts when I lag even a little, I can play against laggers just fine, but when I lag, I can't do anything, I usually just RQ for the day.

Apparently you can get programs to do it for you also. (in reference to Modem Tapping)

I've encountered it a few times on crossfire. It's pretty obvious, obnoxious and annoying.
