[Movies] The GREATS outiside THIS generation?

My girlfriend went with her friends into the city this weekend, and she came back with my favorite movie as a child; 'Rad' as an early birthday gift. I've watched it four times since Saturday. A movie from the 80's, starring an Amateur BMX rider out to conquer the #1 spot in an upcoming event @ Helltrack. I hadn't watched this movie since the 90's, but my memories are vast. A group of us used to 'pretend' we were living inside the movie 'Rad'. We would race all over the Bronx, practicing flatland tricks (that I never really picked up on), but jumping was all me. WHO remembers this movie? The opening track by John Farnham (Break the Ice) get's be fired up...One of my FAVORITE titles/movies of all time.

What are some of the GREATEST movies outside of the 00's in your opinion? Any particular connection to any? Is it that movies aren't the same anymore, or do we hold this inner grudge against the newer generation of cinematography and writing because we hold such a deep interest in the material we grew up with? What happened to a simple plot that we could hold close, instead of having an extravagant display of effects?

...Bring back the meat & potatoes of the past
