My First Edited Video

After helping my clan m8s and other people making there own videos i finally decided to make my own.

Ok, So in this video i kinda focused on doing it in the least time possible.

I had some better clips on my laptop i just wanted to rate my work on this one
and turn an ugly clip into a kewl one.

My laptop has no screen = can't get awesome clips :(
i'll be doing more as soon as i learn some effects.

I really have no idea why people use Adobe After Effects cus Sony veg has everything.

I didn't want to mess with the effects really cus i didn't find anything suitable.

I know intro is too long and i would give it a 5/10
rest of vid would be a 7/10

Here you watch it and rate it and suggest anything.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlXhk8BDFTI

Or suggest any effects i could add to make it better.

NOTE: i have sony vegas pro 8 and Adobe After Effects
Not that good with after effects.

Off to school now.Leave your suggestions.

Special Request to iTwasLuck please comment.

You need better footage and another entrace w/ music :D

    Nice DeagleC btw ;(
  • Intro was a cool concept, but you are right, it was too long.
Shorten it up on the next one and you should be fine.

I'm not a big fan of sniper only as I feel it is too easy, but still you had some decent shots. If you need some elevated tdm game play hit me up on xfire I can send you some sick frags (xfire: deadmoo).

As for the effects used... as far as I can tell no effects were used which isn't bad at all. There are two types of montages. Ones that are meant to have lots of effects and focus on highlighting certain aspects of the gameplay, and then there are montages that just focus on the gameplay, and don't have a lot of editing. It's clear which one you went for, and you did pretty well at it.
The zoom effects that you did were kind of cool. I've always been a fan of zooming in/out and cropping so I enjoyed what you did with it however it was a bit too much. It seemed like every kill you zoomed in. Try just doing it on the really nice ones, or on the one's where it's hard to see what happened.

Audio. Music wasn't what I would use for a tage song, but it was funny and for a short test vid it was kind of cool. In-game sounds were lacking which is understandable as not everyone can record in-game sound, but still if possible it would be nice to have some in there.

Length. It was too short to really be taken seriously imo, and the song didn't help. It was a good first effort, but there is definitely lots of work that can be done to improve.

I also agree that vegas is sufficient. I can use after effects but I don't because I'm used to vegas and I have tons of plugins / effects.

Overall I would give this video a 7/10 for a first effort, and a 4.5/10 if it were not a first effort.

Rly ty for the feedback and concerning the in game sound i had some issues with latency of the sound so i had to remove it.

after i got the footage i used virtual dub to cut the parts i want and compressed it to Xvid codec maybe that reduced the quality a bit.

oh, and virtual dub ruined my sounds.
i had latency in some clips after compressing so yeah sorry about that.

    Ok no
    3 questions
First is there a way to cut footage in sony vegas?
Second Is there a way to get a compressed video with a good quality?
3rd any suggestions for songs? like rock rap or what exactly?

I've seen your first videos and you were at the same level i am at right now so i'm guessing some day i would be able to make vids just like urs.

Yes i remember there was a "devide" option to split the video clips, don't remember exactly how to get to that haven't used sv9 in ages.

To cut clips click on the footage where you want to cut it and press "s" on your keyboard.

I don't compress my video files, so I'm not sure.

I have a bunch of cool songs but I don't want to put them out over forums. Anything by TFK or Skillet is usually good. Add me on xfire if you want different or more specific songs.

Be sure to select the clip at the same time also rather than just putting the time line where you need it, or else it will split everything across the line.
  • Don't compress video, makes the quality much crap.
