State of the Game - Hack Status

Hello Cross Fire Gamers!

In an effort to be more open with the community about the status of the game and what we're working on we would like to talk to you, the community, about the status of Hacking within Cross Fire.


Xtrap has done an excellent job at keeping the hacks under control, more so than our previous anti hacking system. Xtrap has stopped almost all public hacks from entering in to the game. The system has also updated multiple times in the last few weeks to combat other types of hacks.

Public hacks pose multiple problems for the game and the community. The first problem are people who assume everyone is hacking. This is simply not the case. There are less hackers in the game now than there were 6 months ago.

The second problem that Public Hacks present is the problem of Keylogging and malicious activity of hackers trying to prey on the public. Youtube videos showing fake or old hacks, links to fake websites on the internet and old hack files all generally contain some sort of keylogger or ways to phish account information.

DO NOT CLICK ON THESE TYPES OF LINKS.

Make sure that when you are logging in to the z8games website that you are logging in to www.z8games.com and not some sort of site that has anything else in link in your web browser. These sites may LOOK official, but they are far from it.

We now report hackers to [CF]Reports. Centralizing this hack reporting process keeps us all sane. We can now have multiple people checking that account and pulling the hack reports off and reviewing them and banning people and handling the flow. A lot better than if they go to a lone GM account.

Please understand that each case has to be reviewed. We ask for your patience and trust that we get to as many bans as we can. We don't take hacking lightly and know that we need to remove as many hackers as possible.

We have a pretty good setup for tracking hacks within the game. However we may not be able to find them all.

If you think you've found a hack site or something that we might not have found by all means report it to us. You can send a PM to a Cross Fire GM with the site or information and we will handle it. DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING YOURSELF, and don't click on links that might cause problems to your computer. Understand that if you want to help out, you are doing so at your own risk. Messing with these sites and programs can result in your losing the ability to play on your account, or worse resulting in problems on your computer.

Lastly, as a side note, please do not send reports or links to multiple people. If you send something to a GM, there is no need to send it to the CM. And vice versa. We have to sort through a lot of messages, and duplicate messages only cause us headaches.
