Crossfire Causes Windows Error

Hi, first post so I'm sorry if I do something wrong. I uninstalled crossfire a few days ago and when i tried to reinstall it gave me the unable to download . bla bla bla error. Okay, so I tried re-downloading the game from multiple mirrors or from other sources offered on the site. I either get the crossfire client is outdated, unable to download.inf error, or a lot of the time, after xtrap runs I will get a blue error screen on my computer saying windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. Like i said I've tried downloading four or five different copies of the game so I'm looking for some help on how to fix this. Thanks a bunch guys.
