the main point is, rankings determine alot of things in alot of different contests and games, whats the point of this game without rank? whats so good when someone gets an advantage over u that wasnt planned to be an advantage. ppl say farming doesnt affect u, THEN WDF R U PLAYING FOR, rank obviously, ppl dont just play for fun.sandwichROAR wrote: »As I've said, rank /= skill. Rank is meaningless. There is absolutely no advantage of it. Most clans (at least good clans) don't care what rank you are, as long as you can kill people and you don't hack. And IDK about you, but I play for fun. They could do away with the rank system and I would honestly not care one bit. I don't play for K/D, for EXP, or anything like that; I play because I like FPS. IMO, anyone who doesn't is ruining their gaming experience.
BTW lots of great games don't 'rank' people... ever heard of Team Fortress 2? Possibly the best FPS of all time? Hmm... No rank system or K/D there, just a game played for fun... IMO the best games don't reward you for playing a long time, if you've played for a week or you've played for a year you should be at an equal playing field in terms of weapons. -
i wasnt talk about rank clan, i was talking about individual rank. rank is a reward for playing, i play to level up and to have fun. in the army they reward, in sports they reward for doing something, overall they reward at ur job, in school u get reward for passing a grade or getting a diploma. without a reward, what r u doing, even if ur having fun the reason ur having fun is cuz ur winning at something, when anyone does bad in a match, it reaches a point where ur "*** this!" and y is that, because ur trying to reach something which is rank, if ur playing for fun then u wont be playing for along timesandwichROAR wrote: »Rank is meaningless. In actual skill terms, you rank up by getting into respectable clans and winning tournaments. The rank that you see next to player's names is just a symbol to show how much you've played the game. And you're whole notion of 'If it doesn't count towards my rank, it's not fun and I'll quit after a while' doesn't really make much sense. Have you ever gone fishing? You're not going to set any records, you're not going to reach a new rank, you're just going to have fun fishing. People fish for years and years and 'get' nothing from doing it, they just enjoy fishing. I play FPS like people fish: I like to do well (except I shoot people instead of catching fish), but I mainly play just to have fun and to pass the time. It sounds to me like you just want to have a symbol of some kind that shows how good you are, correct? Something that can't be farmed for? Then try out for a top ranked clan, the word 'PubStarZ' next to your name does more to show your skill than any star shaped badge does. And if your really good, get a team for WOGL and try to make it to the top 8 or so.
Also, I really can't understand most of what you're saying, you should reread what you type before you post it, and use sentences while you're at it. =P -

On the main topic... Rank does mean something but only if you didn't farm for it. Farming is hands down the absolute dumbest thing I could ever conceive of doing except for sitting in a box while playing a video game.
I just... Can not stress enough how absolutely ****ing stupid it is.

well no f*uck, prestige mode just to stop ppl from farming, just instead of a smiley face u get a new symbol like in cod, cod isnt a bad game, actually better than this so i dont see how copying something is bad, when something gets copied, many times its just a better version of the original DUMB KIDDumb kid, You can't prestige in Crossfire.
