Crossfire Download Error Message: "Reliable source serving corrupt data"
[FIXED - SEE POST BELOW]
Hi,
A thread has already been created on this issue, but due to the lack of response from GMs, I'm assuming it wasn't received well. In addition, the thread-starter didn't include much detail into the issue he or she is experiencing. Allow me. I, too, am having this problem.
Last night I decided to uninstall the game for no particular reason, which I now regret, hee har har! Upon reinstalling, everything was going nice and smooth, as usual--download speed seemed normal, and nothing was out of the ordinary. Just the typical, 8-, 10-minute download time to reach 100%.
But wait...it didn't reach 100%. It stopped at 99% with the error message, "Webget request failed." So I said, "Oh, that's strange," and proceeded to download CrossFire for a second time.
Same problem.
Only, this time, the error message was "Reliable source serving corrupt data." So I went downstairs for a coffee. It was around midnight.
Then I came back up and downloaded the game, once again. And--once again--it got to 99% and stopped, with the same "Reliable source serving corrupt data" message. After retrying this process for about five times, I came to the conclusion that it might be a problem on my end. I restarted my computer. Took a sip of coffee. I had high hopes.
Ten minutes later, BOOM. IT DIDN'T WORK.
"Reliable source serving corrupt data."
So then I took to the forums and found that other people are experiencing this issue as well. It has to be a problem on their end.
Also, I just downloaded the game again, over 12 hours after the previous incidents. Still, the same issue. It stops at 99% with 3.90 MB remaining in the download, with that same error message.
Thought I'd post this as a better explanation to the issue. I hope this gets fixed soon, I'm missing out on a couple hundred ACEs.
Although, I shouldn't have uninstalled the game for no reason. Bleh... Where's my coffee?

OKAY, UPDATE -- So it looks like the fix to this problem is simply waiting it out.
It gave me the same error message, as usual, at 99%. But I went around the house and took care of a couple errands. By the time I returned, the error message had disappeared and the download was fully complete.
I am now installing the game (in the Setup process). I will report back on whether everything is working for sure.
So, to everyone out there who is experiencing this issue: WAIT.
Just wait 10-15 minutes and the error message should vanish, and the download should proceed as normal.
EDIT: Yep, working. -
I'm sorry to hear this solution isn't working for you guys.
I didn't deactivate any firewall or anything. I simply left the download running (even when it said "Reliable source serving corrupt data), for about 10, 15, 20 minutes. And when I checked back, it had moved from the error message at 99% to 100%.
Possible Solution: ***DO THIS BEFORE REINSTALLING CF***
Be sure to delete the "Crossfire West Installer" folder from your Documents, or wherever you download CF into. Delete the Crossfire icon as well from Desktop/Main screen of computer. Also, delete "Crossfire West" from Downloads Folder and delete all of these from your Recycle bin. Then, retry downloading CF and when the error message pops up, keep it there for 10, 15, 20 minutes, and see what happens.
This isn't guaranteed to work, but I know that whenever I uninstall CF, I also delete the "Crossfire West Installer" folder, as well as delete any CF icons on desktop and the "Crossfire West" in my Download folder.
Let me know what happens. -
I had the same problem and waited it out, it's working and i'm able to install it now. I didn't wait 20 minutes, it took about 4 hours for mine to hit 100% and launch So maybe it might take longer for some other people.
It probably varies based on internet speed or something like that. Glad to hear it's working for you now! Such a strange error -

Waited overnight - 8 hours..still at 99% dammit..
I did remove the folder and everything, I think my WIN7 firewall is off, going to re-check that and try again later
Hmmm....Someone else said they waited for about 4 hours and it worked. But 8 hours is a pretty long time.
Try resetting your computer and your router/modem. Then, make sure to remove the folders I was talking about. Then, when you reinstall, download CF into a different folder than what you usually do. For example, if you download into Documents Folder, try downloading into your Windows Folder or something. Just don't download it anywhere you won't be able to find it, that's all.
Then, wait for a while and see what happens. I thought the wait time would be the same for everyone. Mine worked within 20 minutes, while another's worked after 4 hours. So just play around with that and check back in. -
I have the same problem. I left it a few times for about 30min up to a few hours. Sometimes it went back to the downloading phase and said that it's downloading it, but then after a few seconds it goes back to the error message and stuck at 99% 3.90mb.

Thank you for contacting Z8Games Support Center.
All of our systems are currently running normally and most of the users are able to play normally. If you are still facing issues, please try the following steps:
1) Uninstall the game completely, and delete Z8Games folder from your program files folder
2) Perform system cleaning (Ex. Using CCleaner)
3) Disable your Anti-Virus real-time protection
4) Re-download the newest version of the game http://crossfire.z8games.com/download.html
5) Install the game
6) Add CrossFire and CrossFire folder to your Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions list
7) Close all programs running in the background
8) Re-enable your Anti-Virus real-time protection
Please follow the previous steps exactly in the same order. If you are still facing the same issue after following them, please submit a new ticket with the specific issue and a screenshot of the error you are receiving.
We thank you for your patience and understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you..... but nothing working for me -

Try these steps over and over and over. Maybe if the first time you waited 4 hours and it didn't work, delete CF folder and re-download, and wait 5 hours. If that doesn't work, delete CF folder and wait 6 hours. Like Aizxr mentioned, it's just random. Just keep doing it until it works, because it will.

Remember, keep doing this until it works. If it doesn't work the first time, delete CF folder and re-download, and wait even longer than you waited the first time. MAKE SURE ALL PROGRAMS ARE NOT RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND--do something else while CF is downloading. Go for a walk, eat some Cheerios, whatever. -
So, if one has to wait 2 days to POSSIBLY get the game to download that is 8GB in size - it just makes no logic, it is a problem on their size, and they can go and **** themselves if they think they will get new, or even keep old players and veterans with bugs as stupid as that one!
I do not know what the reason behind the bug IS, BUT until then it's just plain stupid, annoying and disrespectful to the old CF players that actually TRY to pour life into the game.. without players like myself - Crossfire is nothing but an old game that is poorly optimized and does not really even care, does it? -
It is not acceptable for someone that has never played this game or wants to come back and ALREADY faces bul**** problems..I had disabled my antivirus on win7 and win 10 - both fresh installs and tried again and tried again and tried again and tried again..
I am not the only one - this is obviously not people's problem. AND IF IT IS - then f***** help us go through it as in help us figure out the problem so that other people can know how to do it.. -
I have never seen this message even though I have downloaded it many times but with this error in mind you may have entered with illegal programs on your device
do not take my opinion and try to contact support by remembering them they will inform you of the useful of course -
Hello.
I couldn't install Crossfire West just like you.
But we were able to solve the problem.
If you are using your windows10 and the version is 1809, you will not be able to install it.
To confirm, open "Run command" from start menu and enter "winver" to check your version of windows10.
If it was version 1809, check the site below and try version 1909.

Also, if this doesn't work, try this:
Make sure you click the triangular "Play"/"Resume" button when the error message pops up at 99%, then proceed to wait for however long it takes to get to 100%.
Maybe it pauses when the error shows up, so make sure you click that button ONCE to resume the download, then wait.
I went ahead and made the sacrifice. I uninstalled CF purposefully, and reinstalled. Same error. But I clicked the Play/Resume button ONCE, and waited for about 1.5 hours. Came back, and it's working.
