My clan site has vbulletin 4.0.2 and i can choose witch member class can use bbcode in the signature, and a system of points like karma, there is alot of scripts to add karma and other settings to vbulletin. Not hard at all.

Nice example of one of two typical signatures - poor quality, the other being inappropriate.
