Having problems starting up Crossfire
Alright, so I've been playing Crossfire for a while now, especially since I've installed my new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and graphics card. And it works fine for those few months, but then I go to play it one day and the game doesn't start up.
When I realized it wouldn't run, I decided to uninstall it and reinstall it, deleting the folder after the uninstalling process, so as to make sure I got rid of all the data before reinstalling it. So I reinstall it, with the downloaded version I obtained from this site, and the menu screen pops up, and I click "Start Game." It still doesn't run.
So I checked my processes to see if it was running at all. Turns out it is and the program "patcher_cf.exe" is running, so I assume it's patching, but if it was, then wouldn't their be a sign that it was. Hell, not even GameGuard would load up. I honestly have no clue as to what the hell is going on with it. My friend tells me that the game wasn't made for quad-core's, but I don't think it has anything to do with it seeing as how it was working even with the quad-core installed. So the only thing I can think of is that something is blocking it off and I don't know what it might be. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have no clue if it is compatible with Windows 7. I highly doubt they made a version for it so soon, seeing as how Windows 7 has yet to be released and is still in the beta stage, so I've heard. So wouldn't know what to say about that. -
Make sure your fire wall isn't blocking it, try turning it off for a short period, and try running the game while it is completely off.
I would also like to mention that I've tried most of the common fixes that have been mentioned, and none of them seem to work, including turning off my firewall. -
I've made a breakthrough! Before this started happening, I had installed a program called Speedbit Video Accelerator, which is suppose to help video's load faster. It apparently was effecting my games ability to play because after uninstalling the Speedbit program, and reinstalling Crossfire, it started back up again. So now I can play Crossfire again. But I thank those who helped out.
