Perm BANNED
Ok so what is up with these perm bans that are happening to what they call themselves "innocent"? Is it because they changed their sound files or something in their rez folder? I'm thinking about changing my double-kill triple-kill sounds to something of my own since players from EU and other versions do it. They even change their killmark after the 2.0 update (which is supposed to prevent you from changing it but you still can).
So are there bans given out for those who change their files in the rez folder? (just sound files because I got sick of hearing double-kill triple-kill and want to change it up a bit)
Before we could change the killmarks and sounds to whatever we liked and a MOD of our own created this website for that sort of stuff so if you get banned for doing stuff like this is too cruel. If I get banned from something stupid like this then this needs to be changed. RF----.REZ files modifying is understandable because that is messing with the gameplay or whatever you want to call it but if you get banned for changing your sound files then this game has really turned into a joke. Come on GMs let us AT LEAST change sound files.

Obviously no-one can comment on why people were getting banned. You know this.
But it has ALWAYS been the case that modding files has not been supported. Modhub worked fine before 2.0 as those files were open files. After 2.0 they changed how the files worked so they're now REZ files.
Rez file modding has ALWAYS been a bannable offence. Doesn't mean some people don't do it and get away with it for however long, but eventually, when it is picked up, they will be banned.
So it's up to you if you want to take the risk. But file modding of any type has never been supported. Rory was very specific about that in the ToS when you signed up to Modhub etc in the past. And so you change the sound files of a ghost to be much louder, even with breath down - that gives an unfair advantage to you now. Surely that's more of a joke than having to use stock sound files? In the vast majority of FPS games there is no mod support for this reason. -
Many players from pro to just casual mod their kill sounds. If this is something that can get me banned then it is what it is but it's very unacceptable because before we had the ability to do all of that without a problem. Even in cf China today there are professional players like 70kg who mod their kill marks and you don't see them getting banned because their GMs could care less it's just kill marks. I'm also sure their GMs actually play the game in their free time so they know what it feels like.

How exactly is it unacceptable..? It was never supported. EVER. They have given warning that they have changed the system and the detection system, and the penalties for breaking it. Go and buy CSGO and mod the sound files and the kill marks, see what happens. And that's a different version, run by a different company, with different rules. That's like going into McDonalds in the US and saying "Well they have X burger available in Burger King in France, why don't you have it here?" - they're different companies in different countries.Cre8LvEDGAF wrote: »How do people still play with those garbage sounds.. Good luck with that.... -

You're an idiot haha, you think you'll win a dispute for your money back because you altered the game files and got banned? You'll get nothing as it's against their terms and conditions and you agreed to them. -

Any file modification, even something like sound/image(killmarks) files, could cause errors, bugs, and the act that a lot of people used to modify these would mean these errors would be very hard to track down. It's one of the reasons all the files are now locked and can't be modified (not physically "can't" of course, but it's just not allowed).
If you think it's stupid and want to try your luck, don't come back crying if you get banned. Sure, there are a lot of people who still modify these files and get away with it, but that doesn't mean you won't get caught doing it.
There's no discussing these rules, and no arguing with the bans, especially since it would be the anti-cheat that would ban you in this case. Closed.
