Wasting money for items that you're not gonna use. Logic?

So I was thinking that people spin so many crates every now and then to win items that are practically just going to sit in their storage. Like people spin SPAS-12 Rebel crates and other shotgun crates but in reality they're only going to be using AA-12 variants or Vepr. I have a tendency to think that I'm not going to spend money on something that I'm never going to use. If it was a real, physical, and actual thing then I would have no problem spending loads of cash to hoard up a nice collection. But considering this game, these various weapons and chars that people so fondly collect have practically zero value in real world. Moreover, these collections are not going to last forever like real, physical collections do, and everyone is aware of this fact, but still they splurge money that adds up to insane amounts considered to be spent on a single game.

Has anyone given a thought about this ever? You could happily buy and use any one of the three M4a1 VIPs, but why buy Obsidian and the new one if you already had IronBeast and vice versa? You could buy other vips like barett, rpk, thompson, de, kukri, etc to get exp and gp boost if that's what you're after, but what's the sense in spending more than $300 on three versions of the same weapon with very minor differences? Why spend money on crates to win weapons that you are never going to use? Why buy 15 or more chars when you're only going to use one or two of them? Why create collections to get temporary pride in showing off while knowing at the same time they will not last much long in this world, hence have zero practical value to collect them compared to other real world things that people collect?

Nothing lasts forever in this world, but this game would at the top most position of that list of things that are going to be evaporated from this world. Seven years is a pretty long time and the bells could ring any time. Hell, we've been seeing signs already like new upcoming updated version of this game. You don't own these accounts and therefore won't have anything to claim when the hard drives are wiped forever, and with them will be wiped everything you spent your money on. Now this is not pessimism but just a straight way of thinking.

I'm not against spending money at all in this game, but why people spend money on manifold of things they are just going to sit unused in storage baffles me. For instance, I would buy Shovel VIP if whenever I'm willing to spend money because that would allow me to just have almost all the other melees in the game. But after that if a new vip melee or another melee crates come, I wouldn't even consider spending a dollar on them if they were to be priced at that amount.

Maybe most people who have overloaded storages with rotting weapons would argue that why not spend if you have heaps of money? Well, even if I had billions of Euros I would consider each cent a waste if spent on something that is essentially non-useful in anyway and had no value as a collection in real world. Best example would be the person who supposedly splurges wasteful amount every now and then. I've been seeing him use the M14EBR Red crystal for more than one and a half year continuously, while most of the rifles are rotting in his storage. Having hundreds of weapon while you could essentially use only seven of them at a given time.

I hope I'll get some insightful and interesting discussions and answers from some of the intelligent users that dwell here on forums. For those who just spam, "It's our money, why you care we waste it or not", you'll be entirely and utterly ignored.

  • If they have the money to spend, let them do whatever they want. I usually go for weapons that I know I will use a lot, but sometimes they come out with something better. The only weapon I never use is the m200 and I spent around 400k for it, I still don't know why I spent so much on it.
  • No way be satisfied with a member
Make as many bags of more than seven and make it to GP
In order to enjoy a number of weapons in our possession and enjoy more play
  • Many spin just to spin.Others spin just for collection.
Me if i will spin i will spin for something that i want to have to play. :p
Everyone has different opinion, don't forget that ;)

I don't have a 512 bags, so I cannot use them all at the same time. About the M14 Red Crystal, it's a strong weapon, I got it, you guys don't, so why shouldn't I use it?

Well you didn't read my post to the end. Read it again, then reply if you want.

Well, I'm satisfied with my 'member', at least for now. :p
I'd thank you for replying, even though I didn't understand what you're implying.

Well, that's exactly what I'm asking. It's good that your thinking complements mine, neither do I care nor I want to stop people wasting their money if they see it fit to waste it. However, I still need to process the logic of wasting time, money, and hope for something that you're not gonna use, ever, and that has zero value as a collected item both presently and in future.

But you do know when spinning most of the time that you're probably never going to use that weapon, right? And you took the M14 part of my post totally the wrong way. I know this as a fact that if I owned that gun, I'd be using it all the time myself too. Same goes for anything that no one but only I own, I would use that thing the most. But consider this, you've been using that M14 for more than a year now and in the meantime many versions of M14s have been released and if I'm correct you've spun and won all of them, only to be not used.

Well I can agree on one thing though, that if somehow Z8 were to release a costly bag that would allow you to change your weapon to any of the weapon that is in your storage on the go during the matches, it would probably give more weight to the logic of having multiple versions of same guns at the same time and my thread here would have lesser weight than it has now. But that's just a random thing, non-related to the current situation, hence the creation of this thread.

Well, I'm the only player to own a complete M14EBR collection in this game, at least it's something I guess...

At a certain point it's only about collecting. I'm never going to see the money I spend here again, but hey, I could also waste it for cigarets, booze...
  • I agree 100% with you , i've only spent a few dollars at this game and bought 1 char only and spent crates with the rest! I still don't own any VIP and not willing to do , since i've seen some people are getting permanent bans for no reason, so there is a chance that i get a permanent ban for no reason too ! , then all these money would go for nothing .( I also want to mention that even if you spent alot of money on unbanned account that you can play on it on any time you want, all these money is called 'MONEY WASTED ', you can't even touch what you've spent your money on!!).

Go focus on your future not on a zero value game that cant help you with your real life, juat play for fun!

I also want to thank you, you really changed some of my thoughts about gaming!!

Then tell me with all honesty that how you're going to feel when this game comes to an end and so does your account and everything in it, permanently. It's not about just money, it's about time as well. For instance, If I spent most of my life collecting all editions of all newspapers from all over the world, only to find one day that they got burned accidentally while I was away for a day, I would feel literally ****ed up, even considering that my collection has some sort of value in the real world, and so did my time spent on it. And, the accident was unexpected. But collecting something that has rationally no value in real world whatsoever, while knowing at the same time that this collection will come to an end for certain, wouldn't it feel just too bad at that time? I would rather spend on something that actually has some value in real life, like making a collection of bikes, supercars, first editions of things, expensive wines and so on (though I confess those take an entirely different level of spending and dedication, but you get the idea).

Of course I'll be annoyed, but I had always known this game is not going to last forever. Enjoy it while it does so tho. And it's not like this game were the only thing in my life...

I'm glad that you took something positive to think about from my post, even though my intention for making this thread was just out curiosity, and not for making people feel bad about anything that they do.

Although that's how most things work these days. If you want something better than the others, you have to spend money, it's the same for almost every other online game out there and I completely agree with it. I've even bought the Ironbeast and won some weapons from crates that I spent on. I've even bought class stabilizers and other provisional items to get some better gameplay experience. I even bought two chars this Black Friday cuz I'm having an inclination for collecting ribbons only to get that perm Shovel RD. But these things just prove my thinking that you can spend and should spend, if you're willing, on useful things that are going to improve anything in your life.

I've been enjoying it for many a years, and I feel no shame to admit that I'm kind of addicted to this game (well I feel a bit ashamed lol). But I'd wager it's going to be much more for you than just 'annoyed' when that happens. You get emotionally attached to anything you spend your time on. I bet some people here would be even crying rivers when this game comes to an end (I think Saladin would be one of them :P)

the addiction might go further too into the realm of 'gambling' addiction as well with the lottery based crate system. I honestly find spinning crates to be more fun than some of these modes now a days. But I still try to only spin ZP crates that have something in them I plan to use often.

OP stated the example of AA12 (assuming AA12 Busters) vs say SPAS Ares Slug....i'd probably actually use both if I won them. AA12 Busters would be my go to ZM weapon but I personally don't like using AA12s otherwise but the SPAS Ares with that slug shot would be fun to use as my shotgun option in other modes.

but yea this game has also long since fallen victim to the release OP weapon after OP weapon which means OP Weapon 2 has to be at least slightly better than OP Weapon 1. While not always true of course...you can see the progression....most of our SMGs since the Ares collection brought in the JHP effect have had JHP or better stats otherwise.

I'll agree with the sentiment of not collecting every reskin of a gun for collection purposes. I don't have the money to do that and would like to think that even if I did, I still wouldn't simply because the money could still be used better in other areas of my life. (not that the money I already do spend couldn't also be better used...but well...crate spinning addiction has already set in...) But...if I happen to get another version of a gun I already have while trying for something else in the same crate...I won't mind.

I couldn't agree with you more LOL!!!!!!!!!! I only spent real cash on 3 of my 4 VIP's (one was bought by the help of saved ZP from Offers/Give-Away's). The rest of my weapons owned were from Event's. I might not feel the full enjoyment of having 'most/all' the weapons, but at least I feel great inside, that I didn't lose too much money on this game, when it finally reaches the end. I don't even spend on awesome guns anymore, let alone on redundant weapons, that might collect 'virtual dust'. LOL!

The main reasons players pay real cash for this game, (especially for the BM) is simply because: They got an in-game addiction (like a Gambler, who enjoys the thrill of the potential win), for collection/bragging right purposes or they just haven't got other IRL interesting plans to invest their money on.

I hope that answers your 'puzzled' question/doubt. :D
  • When I realized what you can get irl for the same amount of money as a VIP or 100 crates, I just quit spending more. I'd rather go for a trip to England and live at the Hilton hotel than add another vip to my already oversized inventory. Another thing to mention is how pathetic you look to others, when you can't beat them, even when you have 20+ vips. As the guy above mentioned, people who buy crates and vips are addicts/gamblers. It's a mental health problem and should be taken serious. What bothers me even more is how awful computers people have, compared to their CrossFire storage. They could easily buy a new high-end gaming PC instead. Real property is far more rewarding than virtual. How about gifting your parents a nice dinner for x-mas instead? Do something nice for once.
  • i spin becuase i enjoy spinning crates sure when the games dies ill be annoyed mad and probably quite upset. but it wont be because of the money i lost. it will be because a game i love playing with friends and a game i made lots in will be gone.im sure most people realise i have quite a bit of an addiction to this game as every time i try to quit something pulls me back usually friends/community.

and when i do giveaways thats money im more than happy to throw away, i have always been about giving and unlike most i still like this community. so until this game dies ill always be here to throw my money at it :D.

im not a gambler . i havent spent much money on my account recently only time i did was for black friday and also sometimes i top up 10k for bags. i spend plenty of money irl. buy my mum a meal ever week (also i have a good quality pc ). the only reason i used to spend was cause i can there was never a reason behind it apart from the fact that i could spend it.

dont like my reasons im sorry :( i only just woke up

The expression "I do it because I can", is very popular amongst gamblers who deny the fact itself. The tough part is getting past it and noticing what else there is to spend the money on. I also love the game and I still like some people, even though most of them left me for Stone walking simulator/Cs Go. I don't regret buying the weapons I have right now. They surely made me have more fun in the past. However, there is no need to go overboard. I mean, if you use the gp ak-47 for a week, you can most likely beat any VIP player with ease. There is no need to get reskins, just to use them once and then leave them in the storage. You can get so much better stuff irl for that kind of money. It doesn't matter how much money you have. I myself stocked up quite a bit with the latest stocks and early savings. That doesn't mean I need to spend it right away. Who knows, I might want to buy a nice house someday. Those extra 5-10k bucks can easily be turned over into more by then.

im not defying the fact i am not a gambler i know im not. i have plenty of money saved up. so what is the harm in just spending some money? and take note of what i said used to spend money cause of that. these days i dont spend money on cf apart from giveaways.and bags and when theres a good event.which was once in ages for me. i know there are better things i can spend money on and thats excactly what i do. :)
  • At least someone buy chars or spinning crates trying to win some weapons just for collect ribbons, i bought some hell fire jack hammer crates too just for win that, and i know that i will never use it, but i just need another 1 shotgun to get a ribbon. There are so many guys that got 6 bags, but they only use 2 of them. If they got so much money to waste just let them do it.
  • I don't own many weapons, but already these few (30+) aren't all being used (not even 20). And as something like Kukri Royal Dragon and regular permanent Combat Axe for 60 Coupons from the past most likely are rarity now, but when the newer stuff (axe Royal dragon/Kukri Divine dragon in my case) are so much better or/and look cooler, the weapons from the past get overshadowed, both for their sheer power different, or plain prefered looks.

I haven't spent a dime on this game, but the ZP from survey gone to Crate Spinning of course (that never won me anything). And that's there truly my way of knowing and understanding the notion as "wasting money" and that the game will never be here forever.

But you could say that I'm wasting time?
No, I'm not. If the time is spent doing what I like, it's not time wasted.
I might feel sad at first when it would meet it's end. But lately I'm not that active, regardless. New competition rises every now and then. And honestly, 6 years of my life with this game is a lot, and I mean that as a good thing.

yea im that idiot that got the Ak-fury, and then the AK-iron beast.... gonna buy the AK-Obsidian beast... :/
