HMX2 review

Does anyone else find HMX 2 unplayable?

This crappy ass "infection grenade" owned by the new Xeno is making this mode unplayable

I always try to camp with my Barrett VIP and I go to a high place that will require from the xeno time to get to ...and guess what?

He's just throwing his grenade on us from long distance and everyone are getting mutated instantly

Every round ends after 20-25 seconds ...I miss HMX 1 :(

  • Its just that the playerbase is full of kids so they have no clue what to do. If i see someone getting infected at a long distance i will snipe him with barrett. I get my ammo back duhhh
  • The Idea of the Mode is alright, it's just that some people seem to be... unable to adapt to this change HMX 2.0 brought forth.

Give it some time, people will get the gist of the Mode eventually.
  • I've come across players who are surprised I would remove the parasite for them. I'm just as surprised that that's surprising. I get my ammo replenished and one less mutant to deal with, why wouldn't I?

I personally like that a big part of 2.0 revolves around teamwork, but I can see where you're coming from since your preferred play style is different~
  • This 2.0 expansion is actually great. I love the idea, the map, the new Characters. I can't complain. However, because of this new Parasite Grenade that the Devil Terminator can throw, it requires more teamwork then HMX previously required.

Before this expansion came out, players could parkour/free run across the maps, avoiding the mutants and surviving on their own. Only times when I saw some hint of teamwork was when the soldiers were camping in one space.

Now that we have this expansion that requires teamwork, because of this Parasite Grenade, I find that most players don't really understand that they have to work together and carry on trying to play by themselves. I've played this mode with a group of 4 or 5 friends and I loved it. We had so many laughs and fails because we had to work together and communicate. ..and I think that's what is lacking.

It's not exactly the modes fault.
  • I like it when you get a room full of decent people. But that's usually said for most modes. If you don't like the guy throwing his mutation nade thing then make sure you play with a friend and work with them and try to perma kill the guy with a knife kill. It's what i've been focusing on trying to do when playing relatively by myself. Taking out the big guy makes it much easier.

but yea as the others have stated....most nabs don't know to shoot each other when infected by the nade. They just sit there and let each other mutate. or go off by themselves to some spot where they have no chance.
  • This mode encourages team work. It is not hard to hold a spot and keep an eye on your teammates at the same time.

It really isn't hard at all. In fact i've seen more soldier wins in this HMX 2 than I ever saw in HMX. Although...that could be the fact that actual players who aren't gun hunters are able to play without getting kicked now. Maybe also slightly due to the new map being pretty big as well with multiple areas a group can hold their ground relatively well against the mutants.
