It never happend to me !!!
It could just be the texture files messing up. Sometimes when I join a game, I have problem with a circle of colors flitting through my screen where I cannot see anything, with the vanishing point being the middle of the screen. My quick fix to that is usually just by hitting escape, or if that does not work, just quit and rejoin the game.
