How to improve this community.
Well after a lot of thinking I think we could do a few things to make our community much better, unless we want to accept the death of competitive CF in NA (Unless you yourself have already came to this conclusion and assumed its dead, which in some ways you would be right).
I think a lot can be done to boost this community however given the global status of the game being #1 in Revenue for 2013. I will admit this figure is largely not impacted by the NA version, but nonetheless this version could be much more competitively viable than it currently is.
The first thing that needs to change if we want to move forward is the toxicity of the community. Yes we all know their are obvious toxic players in each community, but it seems in Crossfire their is an overwhelming percentage in the community, especially in our competitive scene. These players tend to project constant negativity, discourage new teams and players, and generally troll or flame constantly in a toxic manner.
How Can we change this?
Simple. Ignore and don't elevate, or give attention to this behavior. If you want the community to improve don't constantly criticize others, yet never take advice. We need to constantly be encouraging new players, and helping others to improve so that the competitive scene can grow or at least for the time being become more stable and less toxic so we can be more appealing to people who are considering competitive Crossfire.
The second issue Id like to bring up is mainly directed at the companies in charge of our version itself. I think this game is severely ignored on the competitive side. I understand we now have National ESL and ESG, and thats great. That being said, I think that these events could be much greater given better support from companies behind the game itself. I have seen lately other games elevating their prize pools by adding in game content that players can purchase and having the majority or all of the profit from that specific content go towards event prizes. Maybe z8 could release some competitively viable ZP weapons that are permanent purchase ZP Guns, that do not sacrifice competitive rules to use (essentially the skin is the only difference, no extra ammo or faster reloads, etc). This could be an easy move for z8 that could elevate our prizes and potentially give the ability for ESG or NESL to use that funding to host a high prizing LAN, and not leaving JPs freelance attempts at lan in the dust due to low prizing. By simply doing something this simple with in game content we can elevate prizes and draw in more teams to come back or come newly into competitive Crossfire.
Why does this matter?
To some of you, you may not even read what I have said because its too long, or you don't care about the game enough to want a change. If that's what the community wants (to sit back and watch or contribute to its demise) then by all means continue to do so, but my target here is to find people who would like to see this game survive and potentially become more competitive with larger and better events in the future. I personally have invested hours and hours helping this game in many ways and I hope others would do the same to see the game live up to its potential.
All in all, we just need to work together to become a community worth getting support from our developers / host company, as well as a community that welcomes and embraces competitors at any skill level and gives them the tools to stick around.
Feel free to respond as you please, as I appreciate any serious input. If you want to talk with me further feel free to ask for my contact information below.
You have to be the change you wish to see, otherwise it may not ever happen.

Just look at the big picture. This is a free to play game that was founded in 2009. You can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times this game was updated to fix problems in the game. There is absolutely no growth of the game itself, so why would the community grow?
You have developers who care about nothing other than making money, not knocking them, but that's how it is.
So basically you're left with a 5+ year old FREE TO PLAY game, that has not advanced at all since its creation. Why would anyone new come to this game? There is literally no attraction to it as its just a knock off of counter-strike. So any new players considering Crossfire, might as well spend the $3 and buy CS:GO.
That being said, its a massive waste of time to try and 'grow the community' instead of just riding this piece of garbage out till it dies. We are going to have the same immature community until this game dies, and you can account for a few extra teams when the delusional CS kids come rolling in around CFS qualifiers.
If you want to be apart of a community that supports other players and the game itself, you're playing the wrong game, my friend.
Lets just be honest here. A huge percentage of this community only plays this game because its super easy. You can put very little effort into this game and still be considered 'good.' The few that strive for a better community are only asking for a better community so that the only game they are good at doesn't die. If you say you like crossfire for other reasons than it being stupid easy, you're lying to us and yourself.
If you're in search of a better FPS community, go play CS:GO. At least there are enough people playing that game that the entire community isn't compiled of trolls and immature children (only about 50% ). If not, then just shut up, and enjoy the ride until it over. -
@ Chub I play other games and support them in the same way. Its just a shame that more people don't want something to be done about this game. The game is on a path to die, but I think the reason I care about CF is just because I have played it so long I do plan to put my focus towards SMITE and CS:GO after CF is done though, and continue to work in the eSports industry as I do enjoy it a lot.

Honestly if there was a pro league i would definitely still play this game
But because not a single person will listen to me about having a pro league this games competition will remain **** and isn't very fun to compete in anymore.
Having a pro league with even 4 decent teams and 4 not to decent teams would still be a lot more competitive than anything else going on right now. -

Honestly If National ESL decides to contract the game for longer I plan on moving Go4 into a tiered series. Where The current top 8 in points would play in a mini league, and at the end of each month top go4 winners would challenge the 2 lowest teams in the Upper 8 team league for a spot. But for that to be viable we would need 24 teams active all the time at a minimum. -

NESL barely gets 20 teams in weekly, so the situation's looking pretty bleak. -

24 is all I'd need. Its dropped heavy since 2013 even which is sad. OCG SS 1 and 2 both had 64 + teams. even tho 10-20 werent active enough we still had 32 + active at that time -

but then doesn't that say something about where this game is going? whenever i hop on for about 2 minutes, the people i see playing are people who are super attached to the game. you don't see ace or instinct practicing for cfs even when it's obv theyre the ones who would get the spot(sgs could be a contender) -

No offense, but i think esl is TRASH. I don't want to play in ESL P, I would much rather play ESG P.
The client is a joke and i highly doubt it works, plus i never even ran it along with like my entire team when i played on it and we never got caught.
You are really the only thing that makes esl playable in my opinion. If someone else was running it (Lets say someone who has never even played the game) they wouldn't listen to the community more than likely, or make basic decisions regarding the game. The only thing esl is good for is providing prizes.
With ESG, Mike Rob and Polleus own it. They have all been around the game and know what people want/know what to do to make their company as good as they possibly can. Sure z8 has influence on what they do, but z8 doesn't RUN them. -

I think we could still formulate a good pro league, and then given lower teams wouldnt have to compete against those consistent top 4, lower level teams would more likely sign up and fill the spots needed to make a "pro" league viable since they too could get prizes with out being the best. -

Yeah, I do agree that ESG has better tailored themselves for Crossfire. Im sort of trying to manage things the best I can with what I have from NESL for CF. Its harder to manage events on a client thats not only based around 1 game. The client does work though, its just there were kinks I wasn't informed about and had to figure out on my own which annoyed me. I am grateful for NESL for giving me the job I have, but the way I was thrown into this with little to no knowledge of their systems and being asked to troubleshoot them was rough at first. I would love to see ESG run a Pro league. They have a client tailored just for CF which in theory should make it the best option for a split league system. -
Its just a shame that more people don't want something to be done about this game.
If you think anything will ever be done to this game on the end of the developers you are literally delusional. You are on the forums more than most. You see the numerous monthly threads questioning why this simple feature isn't implemented or why this ridiculous issue isn't resolved.
The answer is super simple. The developers DON'T CARE. They never will care as long as the BR HUE HUEs are buying their ridiculous guns.
You are wasting your time trying to rally a movement to revive Crossfire. I'm sorry you're the only person not to realize it. -
this game gets no support from the company lmao, the community wont grow because of that. Look at our god damn "lan" 5k pot? loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
edit: with 60 dollar buy-ins on top of travel fees = gt.fo -

1 Thread isn't a waste of time and I am working with NESL not only for Crossfire, but so I can also develop some experience for my resume in eSports. -

it's hilarious because CFNA was developed waayyyyyyyy before CFBR and look at where they are right now. we're literally at the bottom of the totem pole compared to any other version. -

It's mostly because we have people like purvis running the scene. -
