Black Screen after loading into a game

So, I wanted to check to see if anyone else out there is having the same issue or has had this same issue.

GPU: GeForce GT 630
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80 Ghz
Memory: 4.00 GB RAM (350 GB Usable)
Current Resolution: 1440 x 900, 60 Hz
Driver Version: 335.23
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

I can load in, join the lobby, channel and room. When I click "join game" it will show that it's loading in, then I get a black screen. If I click on the black screen I get the error message "CrossFire Error", "Report Error" with a button to report error or cancel.

I just bought a new HD and put Windows 7 on it. I have made sure I've updated ALL driver's, all windows updates done (more times than I can count in the past two days), I've changed resolution, gone from windowed to full and back again. Restarted. Uninstalled and Reinstalled Crossfire. I can play videos with no problems. And yes, I am running as administrator and have made sure my firewall is off.

So .. I am at a loss as to what the problem is and need to see if anyone else experienced it.

Thanks.

Oh, and I'd like to keep this on topic. If you want to spam or post to build up your post count .. please go elsewhere to do so.

  • Problem FIXED

I joined a game through Steam & was able to play it, but still couldn't play CF.

So I just uninstalled CF using the iobit uninstaller, ran CCleaner, & installed CF last night, while it was installing I went to bed. This morning, I joined a game and was able to get in a room and play .. I have NO IDEA what changed. /sigh

My next step was to go to directx10 if the above didn't work ..

I'm going to let my computer sit while I'm at work and we'll see what happens when I get home tonight.

  • Yes, I did. CF isn't working again .. I just joined a room and got the black screen with the error message "CrossFire Error" "Send Error Report" .. no idea who is getting those .. but they got a bunch from me in the past 2 days!

I'm restarting my computer AGAIN and we'll see what happens.

Okay, if it isn't still working Try this:

    Update you're videocard.
  • It's a brand new hard drive, EVERYTHING has been updated and then some.

Right click on the launcher, select "Properties". Go to the compatibility tab, check run compatible for Windows XP service pack 2. Apply and hit ok. Run as administrator, and it should work.

    This must help.
  • Why am I running the compatibility for Windows XP service pack 2? I have Windows 7.

Since the update last night, I am getting the black screen AGAIN!
  • Dear mod ... Please close this thread.

    Thank you!
