"Failed to download version.ini"

When I start my Crossfire ( As an admin ) the client appears, I then press "Start" and it loads for a few seconds and a small window called "Crossfire patcher v6" comes up and says "Failed to download version.ini". How do I fix this? I tried re-installing...

Can someone please post the current contents of the "Version.ini" even?

What antivirus are you using? You may need to add it to its exceptions list.

I believe this error is caused with no connection between client and the patching server (check thingy)

Edit: I've also read that you may need to re-connect to the internet. Try one or both of these suggestions:

Close everything that uses internet on your computer.Unplug your router, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in, let it boot back up. Start CrossFire once internet is back to your computer.

1) Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
2) Type the following command and press Enter: ipconfig /flushdns
3) Manually change version.ini info as explained above

Basically, reset your router, flush your DNS.

Another thing I've heard was to change the version.ini file to "read-only".

For anyone that wants to know the solution, I just had to input Claphead's Ini text into mine and change it to "Read only". I also unplugged my router, but I think it was the first ^-^.

Nevermind. I just searched version.ini in my cf folder and put
