Problem Solved...Just go to Control Panel -> Features and Programs -> View installed Programs...and then uninstall the Security Window u just installed currently...and enjoy the game

Go to Control Panel then Program and Features > View install updates > then uninstall Security Update for internet explorer 11 for windows 8.1 and security update for win 8.1 (KB2922229).. then go start your crossfire

Well for me it runs fine now. :] after i updated my computer ^^

Chanuo2 Check your update history.. Go to Control panel then System and security>Windows update > View update history then check for this Security update (KB2922229) and then uninstall it if you have that update

I got the same problem as you even tho I'm using window 8. I haven't update to window 8.1 yet but my crossfire does work this morning and now it's not anymore

Solved KB2922229 is responsible for this just uninstall it from the updates in CP

did anyone find a way to solve this? I've used ccleaner, deleted my xtrap folder, turn off firewall, removed windows update and still nothing!!!!!! HELP PLEASE! I have win8

i had the same problem on thursday, but i opened crossfire this morning and it worked fine.
